Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Clinger0, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Brianda and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Article selection, mRNA vaccine

[edit]

Hello @Clinger0 & @Ybapat, My name is Brianda and I am the assigned Wikipedia Expert for your class. On Wikipedia there's something called "Extended confirmed protection" that certain articles get to protect them from vandalism and disruptive editing. If you go to the mRNA vaccine article, right under the History tab, you'll see a little lock with an "E" inside the lock. That's the symbol for Extended confirmed protections. What that means is that an editor needs 500 edits to edit the article. Most of our students typically stay under 100 edits for this project.

Unfortunately you won't be able to edit the article, and will need to find another article to work on for your project. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Looping in @Felis Bieti. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:28, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moderna COVID-19 vaccine

[edit]

Hi @Clinger0. I noticed that you have selected the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine article to work on. Since this is a human health-related topic, I wanted to let you know that topics related to human health have more stringent sourcing requirements than most articles on Wikipedia. Please take the Editing health and psychology topics training module before you work on this article. You can also check out the sourcing guidelines for these articles.

And also I want to let you know this is a contentious topic, and any edits made will have to fully adhere to Wikipedia policy and guidelines (in addition to MEDRS). Be ready to engage with other editors on the talk to discuss/improve your planned edits. I suggest taking a look at the talk page and archived talk page discussion to get a sense of community discussions. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Looping in @Felis Bieti.
