Music artists
[edit]Thankyou for the barnstar! As I said before, the music biographies see analysis of performance, technique and stage persona as a central understanding of the subject's notability. For instance, Micheal Jackson's musical production and influence in choreography, Janet Jackson's choreography, Mariah Carey's voice, John_Frusciante's technique on guitar and The_Notorious_B.I.G.'s form of rap, all of which are Featured Articles representing wikipedia's finest work. Of course there are other examples, Gwen Stefani has quite a few featured articles as well, including her debut solo Love. Angel. Music. Baby. and singles "What You Waiting For?", "Rich Girl (Gwen Stefani song)", "Hollaback Girl", and "Cool (song)".The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 06:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Welcome to the Novels WikiProject
[edit]Hello and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books, often referred to as "novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WikiProject Novels announcements}} there.
While you are updating your userpage, don't forget our userbox{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach/User WPNOVELS}}
. - Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- Planning on starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines / template outlines some things to include.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the coordinators or an experienced member of the project; we will be happy to assist in any way we can. Again, welcome, and we look forward to seeing you around! Alan16 (talk) 02:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about the lateness of this, the project seems to be a little quite just now. So all the help we can get right now, the better. Regards.
WikiProject Novels - Coordinator Election
[edit]Hello. To begin, every member of WikiProject Novels will be getting this message (the joy of macros) so if you wish to get in touch with me, please post a message on my talk page. I would encourage anyone who so wishes, to stand in the Coordinator Elections. If you wish to stand, please do so by 23:59pm, June 27. Voting will the continue to 23:59pm, July 21. Can everyone please check-out the Coordinator Elections page. Also, the collaboration of the month is The Tin Drum, so if you have any spare time, please check it out. And I apologise to the seven of you for whom this will be a repeat message. Regards, Alan16 (talk).
Collaboration
[edit]Unless I'm mistaken, you've never edited The Tin Drum before it became the Collaboration. So I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks, both for the editing and for actually reading the newsletter. Remember the Coordinator Elections and to add any articles to the Collaboration page that you think need the works. Thanks. Alan16 (talk) 14:16, 25 June 2009 (UTC).
Tin Drum Edits
[edit]You moved the 'Characters' section that I created because it applies to the whole series. Actually, the first book is divided into three books. It all applies specifically to The Tin Drum. I am new here, so I don't want to move the whole section back without you understanding why I did it. I think it would be better if you were the one to revert the edit so that people don't think I'm starting an edit war. To be honest, I haven't read the book. I have just found critical reviews and used the info I found there, so if you have read the book and tell me the source is wrong I'll quietly go away. Thanks, Sabiona (talk) 23:39, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- The Tin Drum is in three sections? That's something I didn't know. I'll revert right after I finish typing this.
- I moved the Characters section because I was under the assumption that it was about characters in the entire trilogy, not just the first, because I've never read the book either. Sorry about that. :P Clem (talk) 23:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, Sabiona (talk) 12:46, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Re: Barnstar/nigahiga
[edit]Hello,
I just noticed you left me a barnstar on my user page a bit less than a week ago and wanted to come here and say thanks. I have "rescued" a number of articles before, but this is my first rescue barnstar and I couldn't have picked a better article to get it for.
When I created the Ryan Higa and Sean Fujiyoshi page, I knew it was probably headed to AfD given that between the various names it could be searched under (Ryan Higa, Sean Fujiyoshi, nigahiga, etc) it had been deleted like 15 or 20 times. (Well technically I rewrote a worthless article on their movie that was proposed for deletion, but I don't think I reused more than 1 or 2 lines.)
Since I'm not an admin, I can't see the past versions but I imagine they were mostly extremely lame one-time-editor "articles" that probably said "nigahiga is the coolest YouTube channel ever" or similar with no real info. Even so, I was sure the (non existent) page was on several watch lists and would be nominated for deletion despite the numerous sources I had put in my version. Sure enough, within a few hours it had a speedy deletion tag as recreation of deleted material. The tag was invalid, as I had created completely new material form scratch and urged the tagger not to pursue deletion. Naturally he ignored me and sent it to AfD. I was surprised to see that Ryan Higa had recently been deleted at AfD without a single keep, as all the same sources existed then but I guess no one bothered to search. I expected the AfD to be a fight, but it turned out not to be a struggle at all, apparently because of the sources I posted.
Basically what I am saying (and maybe I'm just boring you with all these details) is that I fully expected it to be a struggle to keep the article and it turned out to be no big deal at all. So, yah I guess I really did do an exceptional job of "rescuing" and appreciate the barnstar to acknowledge my efforts...
It may surprise you to learn I'd never actually heard of nigahiga before I wrote the article. That said, I find it kinda silly that people can actually believe the #2 YouTube channel with >1 million subscribers is non-notable.
Since you are apparently a fan of their work, I thought you might want to know that it appears they will soon pass Fred and become #1 most subscribed on YouTube. nigahiga is only about 80K behind now and is gaining subscribers at a much more rapid rate than Fred. --ThaddeusB (talk) 03:55, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- P.S. Welcome to Wikipedia and nice work on your contributions so far! It's rare to see a new editor using proper sources, so you are definitely off to a good start. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about anything Wikipedia related at any time. --ThaddeusB (talk) 03:59, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
