Final Article
[edit]For my final article, I chose the page about the crested capuchin. This article is a stub article, so there is lots of information that could be added to the page that I can contribute. I chose this article both because it has the least information on the page out of my three choices, but I have found multiple different sources that have information about this species that I would be able to add. Therefore, I think I would be able to improve this page the most out of my three choices.
Article Updates
[edit]Within my three candidate articles, I believe I am moving away from the quokka. Even though this page is a start article, there is still a fair amount of information on the page, meaning there is less for me to add. I would like to edit the crested capuchin article, as it is a stub and there a lot of important information that can be added to this page. However, I will have to do more research on the sources I found initially to make sure there is enough information available already. My second choice for an article is the Lion-tailed macaque. This article is a start article, so there is already some information on the page, although I still believe there is more I could add. I was able to find many sources that I could use for this article, although I will have to make sure they weren't used already in creating the start.
Candidate Articles
[edit]For my first candidate article, I have chosen the Lion-tailed macaque. I think this article is a good choice to edit because it is a start class article, which means there is still much more information that can be added. Despite this lack of information on Wikipedia, however, there are still multiple reliable sources, including research papers, books about primates, and conservation websites that have detailed information about the lion-tailed macaque. This indicates that there is plenty of information out there to add to this WIkipedia article. The lion-tailed macaque is notable, and should be included on WIkipedia, because they are endangered due to human actions, and it is important to learn what we can about this species in order to take action to save them. Having information about the lion-tailed macaque brought together on Wikipedia may help to educate people about the danger their species is in and encourage actions to prevent their extinction. I believe that I also understand the concepts necessary to work with the subject of lion-tailed macaques because, as an Animal Behavior major, I am accustomed to reading and writing about concepts similar to this and, having worked with lion-tailed macaques in the past, also know some things about them already. Since this article will be primarily based in scientific facts, it should be no trouble to keep a neutral point of view.
For my second candidate article, I picked the quokka. This article is a start class article, so there is much that needs to be added to it, but there is plenty of literature available, both on and offline, about the quokka. The quokka, similar to the lion-tailed macaque, is endangered due to human actions, and therefore it is important to spread information about how to better protect them. Quokkas are also becoming an increasingly popular animal from Australia, and therefore it is important that Wikipedia keeps up this the desire for more information about them. Despite their new popularity, the quokka has no controversial background, so it should be easy to maintain the neutral point of view necessary for Wikipedia. I also understand the basic facts about quokkas and their environment, so I should be able to conceptualize information about them in order to add to their article on Wikipedia.
The third candidate article I picked was the crested capuchin. This article is a stub, and therefore, there is much that can be improved upon and added. Crested capuchins are notable because capuchins, as a species, are very intelligent and can provide a great deal of information about primate intellect. There are numerous sources that contain detailed information about the crested capuchin, so it should not be difficult to find information to add to this article. I have a good deal of experience dealing with and writing about capuchins, so I should be able to easily understand any concepts necessary to improve this article.
