Information icon Hello, ClarksonsComms. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Clarkson plc, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Dormskirk (talk) 14:35, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Dormskirk. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Clarkson plc have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Dormskirk (talk) 15:29, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ClarksonsComms. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:ClarksonsComms. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=ClarksonsComms|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. VVikingTalkEdits 15:06, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, thank you for your message. We are not being directly or indirectly compensated for the edits. Just trying to update the page to be correct for the company's information including number of offices, current chair, operations, etc. none of the edits link out the company website but instead to other articles and unrelated sources. Thanks ClarksonsComms ClarksonsComms (talk) 09:42, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please can you confirm for the avoidance of doubt that you are not paid by Clarksons plc and have no relationship with the Communications Department of Clarksons plc? Thank you. Dormskirk (talk) 12:52, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, we are part of the company but are not compensated for making the edits, they are only to update outdated information. I believe we have found the correct template to update the profile. Please let us know if this is still not correct. Thanks ClarksonsComms (talk) 14:43, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thank you for making the appropriate disclosure. Please ensure that any further changes are proposed on the article talk page in accordance with our conflict of interests guideline. Dormskirk (talk) 15:10, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, thanks for your help. We have made proposed changes on the talk page but it looks like this does not get reviewed? Thanks ClarksonsComms (talk) 11:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see my comments there. Dormskirk (talk) 11:59, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
