IPhone
[edit]You have recently re-created the article IPhone, which was deleted in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policies. Please do not re-create the article. If you disagree with the article's deletion, you may ask for a deletion review.
This article was deleted per the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IPhone. Basically, the subject is speculative, with little (if any) verifiable substance. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. This may come to pass, or may not. In the meantime, the article may not be recreated without first undergoing a Deletion Review. Fan-1967 06:12, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
LIAR

Hello,
Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:Fredmeyer edit 1.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on March 29, 2007. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2007-03-29. howcheng {chat} 18:21, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Peter Overton
[edit]Simply adding the {{vprotected}} template does not protect a page, as evidenced by the fact that people are still editing the Peter Overton article. An admin needs to protect it, and I've already put in a request over on WP:RFPP. --Imroy 03:42, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- lol, I just realised that a moment ago. Cheers. DarkSideOfTheSpoon 03:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Rothery. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Galler31.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Rothery. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 05:00, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ArthurCClarke 2001ASpaceOdyssey.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ArthurCClarke 2001ASpaceOdyssey.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 08:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

- I figured out the issue - the template has to contain a link to the same article the image is used in. See my comment on the image itself. Cheers, Mackensen (talk) 03:45, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Jerry Johansson
[edit]Hi, I proposed the article for deletion because Johansson fails WP:MUSICBIO. I know this guy a while and like his sitar albums, but after searching etc. I couldn't find significant coverage in reliable sources. Regards Hekerui (talk) 09:31, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Rothery! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 202 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
- Justin Smith (Australian actor) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 21:13, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
response
[edit]The NPOV policy states the Wikipedia cannot take sides regarding controversial topics. Whether Taiwan is a part of China or not is clearly controversial, and the Chinese Naming Convention specifically said not to imply Taiwan as part of or separate from the PRC. Taiwanese is usually not mentioned to avoid taking a side in the controversy. There was a similar discussion on East Asian page reckoning. You can read it if you like.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Vdrink.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Vdrink.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 03:58, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
New Challenge for Oceania and Australia
[edit]Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
