Hi Christopher, these are three excellent topics to explore. I give you my blessing to move forward! Alfgarciamora (talk) 10:21, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Hello Professor Garcia, I appreciate the guidance and I'm looking forward to diving into these topics. @Alfgarciamora: Cjoseph0713 (talk) 22:42, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- Very good! I'm pumped about your enthusiasm. Get started ASAP, however, because you are wayyyyy behind. There is a lot of work on cliques, actually, and about the formation of small groups. You should check out the work on homophily to start - this is the work that shows how people link up with other people like them. I think that James Moody at Duke University has written about this sort of stuff in high schools and Andreas Wimmer has a famous article using Facebook. One thing you want to do is talk about cliques and how they are distinct in the world of network formation. That is probably the best way to go. Remember that you can always type "clique" in to Google Scholar to get going. Also check out the top journals in sociology for places to search (American Journal of Sociology, Annual Review of Sociology, and the American Sociological Review). Keep your search terms limited to the past 10 years for the most relevant research! Alfgarciamora (talk) 23:55, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you professor for the assistance, I've dedicated today to working diligently on my article. I've been dealing with a lot with my family and have been working overtime. Aside from that, I've also noticed that one of my fellow classmates are also working on the topic of "Cliques" will this be a problem? or should I go with another topic? @Alfgarciamora: Cjoseph0713 (talk) 00:15, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Christopher. No, it is actually fine if other students are working on the clique page as well. It is important to use the talk page of the article, however, so that you can communicate with each other about who is doing what and etc. Make sure you don't do what somebody else is doing, right? And maybe you can select a heading that you will cover, etc. @Cjoseph0713: Alfgarciamora (talk) 13:55, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
