Talk page intro

[edit]

Aaah! A clean slate! Old archive is here. Wipe your feet, make yourself at home, but don't take the Morning Musume CD's off of the stereo or I'll go GG Allin on your ass. ;) --Cjmarsicano 18:10, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: WikiProject: Hello! Project

[edit]

I'm most definitely in. A good idea. Sploggers 22:39, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'd like to be a part of it, so count me in as well. Good idea; there needs to be consistency and direction among all the pages. --Sanchny 17:40, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The WikiProject you supported has been created, so please visit it and consider joining. Thanks! Ian13ID:540053 18:13, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Koharu on Rainbow 7

[edit]

Hahahaha. That's what I get for copying it from Ai no Dai6kan.
It's mostly her fault, though, for not being more memorable. :) --Sanchny 20:50, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Feliz navidad & all the good stuff right back atcha, Wikipal.

Hey, I lifted your databox, 'cause I couldn't resist a couple of those (nuke vandalism!), but I wondered where the "blanks" came from. I looked & came up zero; I'd sub Ai for maybe a couple of others, & add Vulcan, if I could. Any tips?

Thanks much. Live long & stuff, Mulder.

Thanks for the tip, brudda.

Best of the holidays & all year. Anybody on here (except the occasional dicks I keep hearing about, but have yet to run into...) get my best.

Jello Biafra

[edit]

Re your addition of Jello to the List of premature obituaries, do you know if the Internet reports of his death were published by a media outlet? (Mere rumours on the Internet don't really count as 'obituaries' unless put out by a media outlet, IMHO.) Ben Finn 15:13, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Userboxes

[edit]

Well, I didn't particularly like the master race comment. Well, it's a bit too bloated, don't really need that many. Besides, I did put them on TfD didn't I? *snicker* But now I guess all that is moot. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 01:55, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

As per WP:BP#Disruption, you can be blocked for up to 24 hours for disruption, which that policy explicitly extends to personal attacks. This edit, which seems (among other things) blatently transphobic, is the sort of thing that would justify a block if it's continued. -- Pakaran 07:21, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I'm sorry I took it that way. Might I suggest that you leave that wikipedia_talk page alone for awhile, though? It seems as though your presence is producing more heat than light. Just a suggestion. -- Pakaran 07:40, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What admin are you talking about, out of curiousity? If you feel that I'm abusing power, feel free to let me know why you think that - I want to know how I can improve as an admin (I freely admit that I have a lot to learn). -- Pakaran 07:46, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:CIVIL. I'm now strongly tempted to block you for several hours. -- Pakaran 07:55, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keep this behaviour up, and you are going to suffer the consequences. There is absolutely no excuse for exhibiting that kind of uncooperative attitude, nor for the perceived lack of civility. I happened to see your comments on Pakaran's talk page, and I am thoroughly disgusted by them. You are acting in a rather obnoxious and immature fashion. Deal with it, please. Rob Church Talk 10:48, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't spot the wink. Regardless, it's tenuous as to whether or not it would be found humorous by all. Nevertheless, provided it's sorted, it's fine. As I said, I saw it in passing, and was concerned by the attitude you seemed to be portraying. Incidentally, the comment you left in place of mine, which you removed, was also arguably a bit dodgy. Just be careful, OK? Rob Church Talk 15:02, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

userbox proposed policy

[edit]

Hi - there have been some slight alterations to my proposal (#4) subsequent to your support. I would be greatful if you could re-read the proposition and re-sign your name below the line if you still agree. Thanks, Deano (Talk) 20:20, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about one of your userboxes

[edit]

They must be good for something, because I just saw something I didn't notice before and that was the admin box. Are you serious? Because we both had TLC on watch and I saw some of your work (which is very good BTW) and what you had to say about Great Purge. I took the liberty of quickly looking at your contribution list and even though there aren't that many reverts my overall impression is that you could qualify.

That is if you want that is. I don't know the exact procedure. I may not be the best person to recommend someone, but I've 5000+ edits here and another 5000+ on nl. so who cares about a couple of fights, so if you are serious let me know. KittenKlub 23:49, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You seemed confused by my oppose vote on your RfA. The diff I povided was not simply your updating of your edit count, but is when you added the "this user votes to allow copyright-infringing images in userspace" userbox. Hence my reference to Wikipedia is not a democracy. I'm assuming that you didn't look carefully at the diff, and so am elabourating here. Jkelly 18:38, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This image is listed as fair use. I'm afriad it is against wikipedia policy to have fair use images on userpages. Could you remove it please?Geni 18:34, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The way you are using it is unlikely to count as fair use. Thus the policy of following US law kicks in.Geni 21:24, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
see Wikipedia:Fair_use#Fair_use_policy. There has not been a debate. That has been a settled policy for quite a while.Geni 21:51, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
you appear to be under the impression that I care that much about userboxes. I don't. I do care about copyright (don't belive me cheack my deletion log) which is a completely seperate issue.Geni 22:42, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copied from my talk page

Regarding your comments at my now-withdrawn nomination... you don't know me, so with all due respect, given the scope of your comments it is rather painfully obvious that you have no clue as to what my intentions would be as an admin. I'm 38 years old, rather intelligent, and honestly cannot see where you get the "childish" false impression of me. I chose to withdraw my nomination early this time around rather than wait around to get opposed out of hand. --CJ Marsicano 06:34, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is exactly what I said:
Oppose for his response to other users' opposition. Instead of being accepting and polite, he is being childish and confrontational to the point of not conceding points of arguments by coming up with excuses for his behavior. This leads me to suspect that he might abuse admin powers to win arguments, and the suspicion of that leads me to oppose. JHMM13 (T | C) 06:22, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I never questioned your intellect or your age (although I'm not sure why being young would be an insult). The comment in question is this one:
I was p.o.'d, alright (and I had a right to be), but I wasn't as bad as many of the other participants in the protest. --CJ Marsicano 21:05, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of apologizing for your actions (since you clearly realize you did something wrong), you consider yourself excused because you were p.o.'d (something you do have a right to be, but not a quality I like to see in adminstrators expressed on Wikipedia since their duties require them to pacify instead of battle. The fact that you held yourself to a standard relative only to those with whom you argued instead of by abiding by WP:CIV is childish and immature by my standards. Thanks for responding, though. Closing logos of Lorimar Productions

[edit]

I have been thinking about it for some time now and I've come to the conclusion that Wikipedia is a road to nowhere. Since you were one of the better people, I'll wish you luck on this project, but it doesn't seem worth all the fighting and nonsense.

Take care. KittenKlub 20:20, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

[edit]

Thank you for being on my side in this issue regarding userboxes. I was wondering if we could start a group to try to change this. --Shell 16:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Can you start the group? I don't know exactly how to do it... We can share leadership. --Shell 16:24, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
I started it. Add [[Category:Users in Defense of Userboxes and Individuality on Wikipedia (UDUIW)]] to your userpage. --Shell 16:42, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
I even made a logo for it. Click on the category. Can you make the userbox? --Shell 16:52, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
FINE! I'll make the userbox. =\. It'll be at Template:User_UDUIW --Shell 17:07, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh! There it is. Thanks! I'll use it now. --Shell 17:12, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

We won! Userboxes have categories again! --Shell 05:05, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, then be bold and create a proper version of it. :D The deleted version read like complete vanity, so it's not surprising people didn't understand Tolliver's notability. (Just to clarify: A recreation of a deleted article with the same content as the deleted revision can be speedied. A totally new article under the same name can't.) Johnleemk | Talk 03:37, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ready?

[edit]

I am prepared to take a case about Jimbo overstepping his powers in limiting userboxes to the Arb.com. Will you support me? WikieZach 18:18, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

I've just commented out some of the categories from your Biography subpage - now that it is a user subpage, it doesn't really belong in the main (non-user) categories. I also commented out a 'notable wikipedian' template, because it contained a category. SeventyThree(Talk) 05:53, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:TLCinterview72605.ogg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Carnildo or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you.

Out, damn bot!

[edit]

Your bot just singled out a SOUND FILE of an interview on TLC. I would highly suggest rewriting that bot code. In the meantime, I'm reverting the damage it left. Cjmarsicano 16:49, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sound files are subject to the same rules as any other media. If you can't be bothered to follow the rules on sourcing and tagging, it's not my fault if they get tagged for removal. --Carnildo 22:45, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

question for you

[edit]

are you an administrator? I noticed you added the semi-protected template to the Green Day article. This alone, however, does not semi-protect the article. An admin has to actually protect the page.--Alhutch 17:38, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
