Regarding the Charge of the Light Brigade

[edit]

Your reversion of my edit is unwarranted -- and also incorrect. The Light Brigade was not "ambushed". They knew exactly what was waiting for them. Certain death. Their commanders also knew. Any student of history knows this, and it is not in dispute.

Here is the definition of "massacred": "the unnecessary, indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings or animals, as in barbarous warfare". That seems about right. If you have a better word, then please make a suggestion. But "ambushed" is totally wrong. I will wait for your response before I reinstate my change. pietopper (talk) 12:59, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are wrong about how I "feel" -- and I wonder how you could possibly pretend to know anything at all about me. I only feel very strongly that "ambushed" is the incorrect word, nothing else. The Crimean War is an incident in history chiefly remembered for this one foolish incident, where large numbers of human beings and animals were unnecessarily and indiscriminately killed. That sounds like a massacre. pietopper (talk) 20:38, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good job on the rewording! I knew you could do it! pietopper (talk) 21:25, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
