Speedy deletion of Benjamin Williams Whitcher
[edit]A tag has been placed on Benjamin Williams Whitcher requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi, and about Trinity Church (Elmira, New York)
[edit]Hi, welcome to wikipedia from a fellow editor. Hey, i noticed your edits to Trinity Church (Elmira, New York) and that they included copy-pasted material from the [church's own webpage]. Sorry, but wikipedia cannot accept material copied from other webpages in general, and that webpage is copyrighted. You may not be aware of it, but I believe that all webpages out there are implicitly copyrighted by their authors. Only public domain or certain other free-licensed materials (under something called GFDL and perhaps some other specialized licenses) may be copied into wikipedia without it being a copyright violation, and even then there are issues of adequate crediting. So, I removed your contributions. Going forward, could you please take care to only add material with fully proper crediting to sources, according to policies and guidelines of wikipedia. If in doubt, ask. I would be happy to be contacted at my Talk page and would try to be helpful. Please also see links at wp:RS, wp:copyvio, wp:plagiarism, and otherwise browse around about what wikipedia policies are. I hope you don't mind my reverting your edits in this article. It is an experience that many/most new editors get. And, there is no way that a new person can get by without making some mistakes relative to the policies. I certainly did. Anyhow, hope you will contribute more. Cheers, doncram (talk) 04:23, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
