I would like to nominate Dr. David Givens, Director of the Center for Nonverbal Studies and Professor at Gonzaga University. He is an expert in communication, anthropology and the brain.

More on Dr. Givens and his unique skills and contributions to this area can be found here. http://www.psychologytoday.com/experts/david-b-givens-phd

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --ChristinaAklein (talk) 23:28, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm new to Wikipedia and am not sure what to put where just yet. In the "Emotion" article is a list of notable scientists, theorists, etc. who have made significant contributions to the field. Per the editing section, one is supposed to create a talk page with the nomination before posting. That's what I thought I did....please let me know what else I am supposed to do.

thanks!

Hi Christina, welcome to Wikipedia. I've declined the deletion request for this page and added a template message to the top of this page with some useful general links, but to address your specific query:
Whilst Dr Givens probably does warrant a mention in the Notable theorists section of the Emotion article, Wikipedia's rules on lists discourages the addition of list entries where there isn't an associated article for the entry. We do have an article on David Givens, but I'm pretty sure that's not the same chap... In this case, the best course of action would be to write the article first - if you're closely associated with Dr Givens in real life, you may want to ask someone to do this for you. Once there's an article on Dr Givens, he can be added to the list of theorists.
Thank you for adding references to the article as well; good sources such as these (and correctly cited; not bad for a first attempt!) are always appreciated. Happy editing! Yunshui  07:27, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
