Hi,

I own the augustpiug.com website which was made with August when he was alive and it was recently redone together with August son, Pau.

Cheers and I will try to remove the speedy deletion.

Thanks for the heads up

I see. In that case, you can find some instructions here: Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials#Granting_us_permission_to_copy_material_already_online. Please don't be discouraged if somebody happens to delete your first version of the article in the meantime, and have a nice day. Rh73 (talk) 16:13, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on August Puig requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://augustpuig.com/about-the-artist. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I have tagged your article about August Puig because it seems to be copypasted from the artist's website and is likely to be copyrighted. Please, don't take this as a personal attack, and happy editing :) Rh73 (talk) 15:19, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Christian-1984, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Draft:August Puig has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. The copyright problem in question did not come from August Puig's own website but rather from https://www.artsignaturedictionary.com/artist/august.puig. /wia /tlk 17:45, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Christian-1984. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:August Puig, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:25, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear All,

Where do we stand regarding this article? The text I added was not created by me or anyone at my gallery so I cant really see where the conflict of interest could be. I have the permission to use the text as I see fit hence I added it here. It is pure facts, and I have provided countless references to further prove my point. I appreciate the time you all put in to making Wikipedia such an amazing tool for everyone to use but this is getting out of hand now. First it was a copyright problem, that one we solved and it still got erased, then I added it again and it was said that August wasnt famous enough even thou there already exists a German version of him here. Then it was a conflict of interest because I added a link to the gallery website just to show the link between us and August and that I had authority to use the text added, everything was then OK but yet again there entered a new person and things went back to square one.

Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to answer me and to all who will read this, but please, read everything before you write or change anything, I dont want to go back to square one because someone points out copyright infringement again without reading everything.

Kind regards

Christian
