Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Saugeen River. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Deconstructhis (talk) 22:24, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am fairly new to using advanced features of the Media Wiki system, so please bear with me. My website serves no other purpose than to be a repository of information regarding outdoors locations in Canada. I enjoy the outdoors, and sharing information about the places I visit with people. The OutdoorWiki aims to be a place to share this information, and serves no commercial purpose. I was simply looking to provide a link to my page which contains valid information, and imagery, which is not held on the Wikipedia page.

If you are unhappy with me linking to my site, fine, but I will consider your reaction to my addition of a link as heavy-handed.

I'm sorry that you feel that way about it, however I don't believe I'm exhibiting a more "heavy-handed" approach than any other competent editor under the circumstances. What confuses me somewhat is that apart from the promotional language you utilize, I'm unable to figure out what specific content that you believe your site contains that would be inappropriate if it was simply added directly to Wikipedia. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 00:02, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
