Chris G Bot 3's edit rate

A note first: I am not a bot operator and I don't know much about them.

I had the feeling for some time that your bot had troubles updating my status, as if he wasn't working fast enough to detect a user was online before a few hours had passed. I see you advertise the edit rate as being 6 per minute maximum, but it looks like the usual edit rate (based on the 500 last edits) is closer to 0.4 epm (even when users are editing). Could it be possible to make the bot look for new contribs more often, while maintaining the 6 edits per minutes max? A quick glance at the contribs makes it look like the bot is updating users at the start of the alphabet more often, could that be the reason why it doesn't reach "L" often? Note that I haven't reviewed the code, I only looked at the contribs. Thanks :) -- lucasbfr ho ho ho 09:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm working on it. --Chris 08:47, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

SonOfStevePerry

(Following the existing newest-post-on-top paradigm). I'm absolutely sure you've heard this before, but this is insane. Two people: one's a jerk who made an account only for mischief. The other one is potentially a jerk but also does a lot of work to make Wikipedia better. Jerk #1 not only vandalizes an article, but then the also talk page of Jerk #2 because he reverted #1's edit.

Who do the policies of Wikipedia champion in this case? #1 of course: "Don't ban #1, he might become a valuable contributor some day! Everybody deserves a chance - Kumbaya!"

This is the madness of the system, and encourages a person in #2's position of only ever give final warnings (or give up on Wikipedia). Quaeler (talk) 10:00, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

The user hasn't done anything else and I doubt he will; so I'm not going to block and I don't know what else you what me to do. --Chris 12:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Status

[1] Chris G bot 3 hasn't edited my status page since Novemeber but (as you can see here: Special:Contributions/Sunny910910) I've made plenty of edits since then. Could you tell me whats wrong? Is it due to my editing styles, or is your bot suffering from the same curse which took down statusbot?--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 02:47, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

The bot only monitors the first 500 users in the cat or else it is waaaayyy to slow, I'm working on a better version of the code. --Chris 06:38, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh okay. Thats good to know.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 03:01, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
