this article seems to be up for deletion. this seems unfair as the club are a well known dublin amateur soccer club with a respected history of bringing through young players who later have become professional players.
articles on similar clubs such Stillorgan Lakelands F.C. and Vale_View_Shankill_F.C. have been allowed and these clubs would not be as well known in the league system as Manortown.
this club has won trophies such as the Milk Cup and regularly competes at the FAI CUP and FAI Junior Cup, two trophies of some history and prestige in domestic soccer in Ireland.
The club has also been featured as the central theme of an RTE television program.
For these reasons, and that articles on clubs similar to itself have been accepted, i feel it would be grossly unfair if this article was deleted.
(ps. i am new to editing wikipedia, so i apologise if i have posted this in an incorrect location)

File copyright problem with File:JoshGowling.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:JoshGowling.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:17, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Fulham F.C. players.
[edit]Hi mate, Cheers for your comment on the footy talkpage - I don't often get responses lol. I wanted to ask you a few things about the "list of player" articles. Firstly, should I indicate if a player is on loan at another club (as they are neither current or former players if this is the case) and if so, how should this be shown. For example, Robert Milsom had several loan spells between 2005 and 2009 but he is still a Fulham player. He was on loan at Brentford in 2008 and Southend later the same year but technically his spell at Fulham is "2005-09". 03md 17:05, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have now started both pages and completed the data as far as possible for surnames beginning with A, I and Q, as well as the current squad. How does it look so far? I am not quite sure whether I am presenting it in the right way having seen different variations on the Gillingham, Manchester United (my team) and Birmingham lists. I realise that you have not included separate sections for league and total appearances on the Gillingham articles, but it is difficult without sources for all competitions to check the total. The Man U list, on the other hand, differentiates between starts and substitute appearances. I am not sure which is the best option. I believe the existing data is accurate though. 03md 00:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

FARRINGTON GURNEY FC
Hi, i dont know how to add a new comment to this page. I think you are very small minded to think that my football club is not worthy of an article on wikipedia. The only way to make the club bigger is if people know about it... therefore you are restricting our chance to grow. We are hopefully on the verge of making the step up to a more 'well known' level in the football pyramid. And i think we should be allowed a page on here to let people know about the rich history of our club. It is one of the oldest clubs in Somerset and has been running for well over 100 years and this alone should be enough reason to have an article. Wikipedia should not be just about 'well known' Premier League clubs. Neil Radnedge 17:30, 6 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nradnedge (talk • contribs)

File source problem with File:FATrophyFinal1990.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:FATrophyFinal1990.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Cup image in 1872 FA Cup Final
[edit]Hi Chris, I was just wondering about the image in 1872 FA Cup Final and other early finals (you're doing a great job with those articles by the way, I really need to do something about the 1886, 1887, 1888, 1892 and 1895 final articles...). Anyway, the description of File:1896 FA Cup.jpg states "The trophy was used between 1896 and 1910, replacing an earlier trophy which was stolen and never recovered", so I was wondering whether it might be misleading to use the image for finals prior to 1896? Hello. An article Mitchel Hahn was recently created, no evidence of the player passing WP:ATHLETE. A previous article about the player was deleted by AfD a few months back. From what I remember of the previous one, the new one seems pretty similar, so I was wondering if it could be speedied as a recreation of deleted material, or should I prod it as non-notable? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:41, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

re: Ardwick Athletic
[edit]I was posting a message to Oldelpaso and saw your comment on his page about Ardwick Athletic, commenting that you didn't think such a club ever existed. It's a pretty inconsequential point, not least since it appears that the guy who made said page got banned for being a sockpuppet recently, but I thought I should point out to you that such a club did exist. It was better known as Ardwick A.F.C. probably hence the confusion, and today is better known as Manchester City. Ardwick A.F.C. was the name of City around 1890, for about 10 years between reorganisations. Just a heads-up. Falastur2 Talk 04:44, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Arsenal
[edit]Hello. You may well be unaware that the Arsenal F.C. FAR is still ongoing and has now been moved to FARC. They were happy with the content and referencing but then (on Christmas Eve) a reviewer picked up on prose and particularly overlinking issues. I've finally forced myself to give it a copyedit, and have been ruthless with the season links in the prose, only leaving the ones which seem particularly relevant to Arsenal's history, at least in my opinion, who knows naff all about them... And to be fair, it does look better with so much less blue. But I'd be very grateful if you could find time to apply your vast experience of FAs to having a quick skim through and see if you spot any glaring stylistic errors, or if you think I've gone too far with the de-blueing. If you haven't got the time, or the inclination, I shan't be offended :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:52, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

He played for Gillingham in two spells: 1931-1932 (39 league appearances, 5 goals) and 1933-1935 (11 league appearances, 1 goal). He doesn't seem to be mentioned on the List of Gillingham F.C. players. Am I missing something? Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 06:10, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply - I'll change the list to Bert Williams (Welsh footballer). Cheers. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 18:56, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:AshleyMac.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:AshleyMac.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Would you know where this might be raiseable?
[edit](yeah: I don't think raiseable is a real word either) A long running irritation with Wiki has finally spurred me into making a proposal on the talk page that seems the most appropriate, but judging by the previous discussions on that page, I may as well stick the note on my kitchen window. Would you know what would be a more likely place to post such a proposal? Ta in advance Kevin McE (talk) 22:33, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks: moved it as advised. Kevin McE (talk) 01:00, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
File source problem with File:BrianMooreStand.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:BrianMooreStand.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:52, 4 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 11:52, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:BrianMooreStand.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:BrianMooreStand.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 11:52, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for reviewing this. Can you revisit ASAP when you have the time? (Don't mean to rush you, but I was going to close it today so I wanted to make sure everything was in order) Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 13:57, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Duncan Edwards
[edit]Hello Chris! I'm a italian wikipedian, and I don't speak english very well Sorry, my english could contain many mistakes. I write to you this message to have some information about Duncan Edwards, a fantastic article that I would like to make a featured article also on it.wiki. My questions are the following:
- In "Football career": ...although he was selected for a Football League XI which played an exhibition match against a Scottish League team. What is Football League XI? Does an article exist in Wikipedia? A web site?
- In "Early years": and was chosen to play for the English Schools XI. The same question, that is "What is English Schools XI? Does an article exist in Wikipedia? A web site?"
- In "Football career": He also took part in army matches, and in one season played nearly one hundred matches in total. In an ordinary football season (like 1955–56 in English football), in a season of army matches or in a year?
Thanks for the answers, Whatnwas (talk) 14:49, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
cfcuk fanzine
[edit]Hi
The text on the cfcuk entry was changed a couple of days ago. If you look at the log for Nawlin you will see when. Unfortunately, it seems I (mis)used the word 'notable', using it in 'general terms' rather than its use by way of Wikipedia terms.
As far as we are aware, the cfcuk fanzine is the ONLY Premier League and Championship fanzine which has a cover price of £1 which is regularly published (at least 12 issues per season)
Perhaps the word ‘unusual’ should have been a better choice for the first attempted entry as I suspect / hope this furore would not have occurred. As I said, the entry was changed the other day and I hope that the changes meet your criteria.
The ‘offending’ chapter of the article NOW reads;
“The cfcuk fanzine is unusual amongst football fanzines as it is now one of the only football fanzines that does not feature a full colour front cover and is famed for the fact that it only costs £1. It is on sale at every Chelsea Football Club 1st team match at home, away and abroad.”
Thank you
