Categories
[edit]Thanks for the message. The isn't much point adding Category:Surnames to the article as Category:Greek surnames is already a sub-category of Category:Surnames. It is always better to use the most specific category rather than a more general one. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 19:57, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 20:03, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Your message on my talk page
[edit]Thanks for the message. There is no "official recognition" for articles on Wikipedia. As for references, the fact that the tag is on the article puts it into a category that lists it as an article requiring reference so anyone monitoring that category will see it. The best way to get references is to try to find them yourself and/or ask on the talk page of the relevant Wikiproject, in this case WP:WikiProject Greece - I have tagged it with the project banner. When the article has appropriate references the tag can be removed. One other thing, the list of See also links is way too long, see WP:SEEALSO. – ukexpat (talk) 01:33, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- 1. No Wikipedia articles are not reliable sources -- take a look at WP:RS. 2. I would say for an article this size, no more than 3 or 4 see also links would be appropriate. – ukexpat (talk) 02:01, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this is what you were asking, but you can link to your article as appropriate in other article by using wikilnk. So for example poppy seed might be a good "see also" in the sesame article and should be wikified if it's mentioned in the bagel article.
- Whatever questions you have on policy try searching with the prefix "wp:" and then the topic. So "wp:notability", wp:photos, wp:citation, wp:references, wp: deletion etc. You can also put {{helpme}} and your question here on your user talk page and random people will come by and answer. Keep asking if you need more help, some of the fly by answers are sometimes rather brief. And of course you can ask UKexpat, who's an expert, or me, and I will give you some irrelevant, but possibly interesting information that may or may not be true and could perhaps be useful. Take care. ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:16, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
