Hi, you blocked this user today for recreating a band page, he is requesting unblock, you might want to review it if you're around :) Thanks! -- lucasbfr talk 16:45, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- I also want to comment on this. I gave this user a final warning after you deleted it. The warning was not immediately after (maybe about 10 minutes after deletion), so I'd like to make sure the block is fair and that the user wasn't blocked for a non-existant fifth creation. (Unless they used a different article name that I did not see.) -WarthogDemon 18:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up, I have commented on the user's talk page. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 19:27, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey August 2007 Newsletter
[edit]
WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear Cholmes75/Archive/Archive-Aug2007! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject! From the project, Maxim. New recognized content By Maxim
Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. Requested Images By Maxim

Replaceable fair use Image:Matthew roloff mugshot.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Matthew roloff mugshot.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - auburnpilot talk 20:30, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Eat_Em_And_Smile_Cover.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Eat_Em_And_Smile_Cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 21:37, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:Time out album cover.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Time out album cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:36, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed your addition of "allmusic.com" because it is neither specific nor completely accurate. If we get an image from a website, the URL of the image itself should be given, along with the webpage incorporating it. Furthermore, the image size and width/height ration are different, so it cannot be the same image. Since you are the uploader, you presumably know how the image was resized and/or otherwise processed. I recommend you include a brief statement of what was done (e.g., "resized with Photoshop by me") to assure folks that you aren't just slapping a convenient source on a disputed image because an annoying bot is complaining about licensing. ☺ I've added a complete but speculated source to the image talk page as an example; feel free to tweak it with the correct information and add it to the "source" line. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 15:15, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Gameface deleted
[edit]Hi, can you please tell me why the article Gameface was deleted?

[edit]Cholmes as I note you reverted this edit of a vandal (then on this ip) who has been adding a variety of disinformation to articles. Can I wise-you-up that you are one those likely to see them first, as they seem to choose Kiss albums and pages fairly early on their jollies. Recent deletion- Scojo Foundaiton
[edit]Dear Cholmes, I am an intern at Scojo Foundation and recently created a page about our work. Since I am an employee of the foundation, I have authority to use content on the website and my actions do not violate copyright. Under these circumstances, would it be possible to leave my page up? Please message me if you have any more concerns/ questions about my created page. Thank you.
- If you are an employee you should not be creating an article about your company since that will likely be seen as WP:SPAM. In any case, in order to use content from your website see the procedures on WP:CP. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 14:38, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Oakland Raiders 1st logo.GIF)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Oakland Raiders 1st logo.GIF. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Louis Alberto Guel 23:51, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Image:AmericanFootballLeague.png
[edit]You removed the image from the article History of American football with the note that there was no fair use rationale. However, it should be noted that this is 100% wrong. The image page in question had a SPECIFIC fair use rational for the article in question; in fact it was (and still is) the only article using said image that has a specific fair use rationale. There was a typo in the Fair Use Rationale which I just corrected; this MAY have thown off AWB, but you really should read the image pages before removing the images from articles. This dif: [1] shows that the Fair Use Rationale has been in place since June 27, 2007; the same day it was added to the article in question. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 02:22, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Regine Velasquez Article
[edit]What are you trying to do? The article has already been peer reviewed? Do you have anything personal against it?
Please look at the Kiss Article you have been actively editing and tell me why I can't add graphics in the Regine Velasquez Page.

1. The name of the event. - You don't need an image for this. 2. The person/people involved in the event. - You don't need an image for this. 3. The date and venue of the said event. - You don't need an image for this.
--> If you can provide a good source for all this information, a proper substitute, then let me know. Otherwise, DON'T GO ABOUT DELETING PICS ON SOMEONE ELSE'S ARTICLE. I spent a lot of time on this article and I don't appreciate what you are doing.
The picture also shows you how the performer has changed over the years. - Where in the article does it discuss this? Any other questions let me know. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 18:52, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
--> You can VISUALLY do this by looking at the pictures, one poster is from the 1980's another is from a concert in 2004. The fashionista section discusses her image change.
What I'm trying to say is a picture is worth a thousand words. By adding one graphic, you can add so much interesting information in your article. The graphic I chose were valid by wikipedia standards and they are not only there for cosmetic purpose as you claimed when you disputed the image's fair use rationale.
The article has already passed a review.

Image copyright problem with Image:KISS Shout It Out Loud.ogg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:KISS Shout It Out Loud.ogg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 19:15, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Took less than 10 hours. Guess you were right. The Evil Spartan 16:17, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Cholmes75, regarding the edit of the Riki Kiru piece: I added an entry to the article which, if it had been read, clearly states why the article was wrong. Can I therefore request that the 1500lbs squat which never took place is removed and that a witness being given as Paul Anderson is impossible. The article states that he was present in 2005 when a quick search will show that he passed away - died - in 1994. Therefore the article is false and should be amended. As I also stated there have been many, many claims made on Riki's behalf many of which are untrue. I'd happily withdraw my request regarding the 1500lbs squat if it can be shown - video or photo will do - that he squatted it to a depth as required by all powerlifting federations.

Unspecified source for Image:Venture bros logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Venture bros logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 06:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Venture bros logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Venture bros logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
Thank you. Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 06:32, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

IFD
[edit]Hi and thanks for helping out at IFD. Just to let you know, when you delete images where it's close to a no consensus (e.g., some of the files from Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2007 August 6, where it's just the nominator and one person saying "keep") but your judgment tells you that the image doesn't make it under policy, people get mad and you end up in DRV. So my advice to you is to add your "delete" !vote and rationale and let someone else do the deletion. I'm speaking from personal experience here having had a few overturned with the explanation "Deleting admin cannot substitute his own judgment for the consensus".
