What is the difference between a block and a ban? --MJ Fancy a coffee? 20:45, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

A block is a technical restriction that prevents an account (or an IP) from editing. Circumventing a block to continue editing is block evasion and will see the IP or account used to evade the original block also blocked. A ban is a community sanction that prohibits someone from editing in certain ways, for example by prohibiting them from editing articles (or more generally pages) on a certain topic (a topic ban), from interacting with certain other editors (an interaction ban), or from editing altogether (a site ban). Site bans are enforced by blocks. Huon (talk) 21:00, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
@Huon: Thanks for your help --MJ Fancy a coffee? 21:12, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Why I reverted your edit to WP:RFA

I reverted this because:

  1. that's not how you request adminship :)
  2. considering you've only been around for a a few weeks you'd probably get refused anyway.

Cheers -- Eman235/talk 05:17, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Latching onto this, you haven't actually laid out the RfA correctly. I suggest you withdraw it and wait a couple of years before running; your chance of passing is very low. Anarchyte (work | talk) 05:34, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi MJ. I came here to tell you that I[1] reverted your 'RfA', but I see you have already been told. I also note that you have been reverted on that page by two other editors. These edits are now becoming disruptive; may I suggest you desist? It would make for a curious edit-warring report- but would still be edit warring. Please take this as formal notice of that. Happy editing, — fortunavelut luna 05:37, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
