License tagging for Image:AUTH Philosophical Department 2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AUTH Philosophical Department 2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:05, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

[edit]

In your edits to Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, you have copied massive amounts of text and photos from the AUT's student handbook. You are no doubt trying to improve WP's coverate of the AUT, but unfortunately, this is a violation of two of Wikipedia's policies, WP:Copyright and WP:Conflict of interest. Unless there is an explicit statement by the copyright holder that he/she will license the text under the GFDL, we cannot use the text. Moreover, we do not want institutions' own views of themselves, we want a neutral, third-party view. Thanks for your efforts. --Macrakis 22:55, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA and beyond

[edit]

Thanks for the comment. The best way to get some ideas about ways to improve your article would be to submit it for peer review. The editors who participate there can give you some great tips. Just glancing at the article, though, I'd suggest a couple of things. One, eliminate the lists. It's not really necessary to list all the different academic departments under the different faculties. Just put the faculties in a sentence (Aristotle University has nine faculties, including the Faculty of W; the Faculty of X and Y; and the Faculty of Z.), and leave it at that. Likewise with things like "Participation in International Organizations".

You'll also need to tighten up the references. Any sort of challengeable assertion that you make (e.g., "The chorus has contributed decisively in the development of choral music in Greece and in the familiarization of the Greek public with it through the presentation of hundreds of musical works. Furthermore it has presented many Greek compositions for the first time to the public, helping the Greek composers to achieve international recognition for their compositions.") needs a reference. You also need to actually cite the websites you're referencing properly. It's not enough to just put the URLs in a reference list. You should indicate who's written the website, who publishes it, etc. See this page for more information on how to do that properly.

These are just a few things to help you get moved up to GA-Class. Good luck! Esrever 18:49, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated this page for deletion, as it is not suitable material for an encyclopedia. Anarchia 04:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chggr. As the closer of the AfD, I just wanted to drop a note to say that I hope that you aren't too discouraged by the deletion. The advice that you got from the WikiProject wasn't totally unhelpful; articles with large lists almost never pass featured article candidacy. As it happens, it used to be common practice to split those lists into their own articles, instead of condensing or removing them altogether, where appropriate. Generally, many of those separate articles have only recently begun to come under wider scrutiny on a case-by-case basis. — TKD::Talk 05:56, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:AUTH Seal.gif

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:AUTH Seal.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:32, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:AUTH seal.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:AUTH seal.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:16, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:46, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:AUTH seal.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:AUTH seal.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:24, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
