- I'm still trying to figure this out. So I'm just going to reply my talking point here.
- The ecology section needs to be redone and I'll pull sources to make the necessarily change. I'm certain that whales with their lungs and all, don't live in the bathyal region, but they probably can dive there. Also, a lot of species have eyes, in fact most species have eyes, this is how they're able to bioluminescence. Oh, and a lot of squid species have an incredibly high metabolism actually. Octopuses don't prefer swimming, they like to remain on the ground and crawl around. Viperfish are aggressive and quite predatory as well. ChesapeakeSediments (talk) 09:41, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

bioluminescence, mesopelagic, bathypelagic
[edit]I'm uncertain if the mesopelagic has more bioluminescence than the bathypelagic since some of the bioluminescence in the mesopelagic comes from the organisms in the bathypelagic zone moving up at night. I would need to find peer review journal articles to compare the two regions more closely, so I left this comparison out of the fauna section. ChesapeakeSediments (talk) 23:58, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
