Friedrich Nietzsche: German -> English

[edit]

Thanks for your comments on en:Friedrich Nietzsche. I strongly suspect that the German page on Nietzsche would be of a higher standard than the English one. There would be more people there who have done serous study of the man, and less free reign for hyper-enthusiastic young men. Concidering your position on de.wikipedia and your comfort in both languages, could you perhaps give some pointers on how we can bring the English article up to speed? I'd wear out my poor Schulwörterbuch in the attempt, I'm afraid --Marinus 10:30, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. Well, I think the en article has become much better in the last few months, although of course there are still things that can be done better (which holds true for the German article). Please also take a look at the impressive work that the French wikipedia, especially Caton, has done. I've contacted him some months ago suggesting a closer collaboration on the Nietzsche articles in de, fr and en, and he was interested in this. Since I should have more time in the next weeks than I've had until now, I would like to start working on this. I will have a closer look at the en article soon, and I would really like to improve it together with you - by the way, are there other people working on the en article who are not "hyper-enthusiastic" and would join in this work?--Chef aka Pangloss 02:20, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You might have more time on your side, but my schedule has tightened a lot the past week. I'd still make time for the health of this article though. I'll take a look at the French page - my school French should see me through.
goethean is the best of the contributors to the en page, he's also an old, established user whom I'm sure would appreciate an improved Nietzsche article. Nichts ausser Zeit has also made valuable contributions. Mikkerpikker works on the Afrikaans wikipedia with me, though he seems to have disappeared for a while --Marinus 11:43, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on Friedrich Nietzsche

[edit]

I think it is best for you to be aware of the recent subjection of vandalism to the article, and I have so far traced these from the past to moments ago, all following similar patterns: [1]; similar vandalism, different IP, "honest" political distortions, and again. At any rate, I hope we can find some way to bring a stop to this ridiculousness bent on falsifying Nietzsche's claims and so on. I will try to notify others who have been keen on the article's improvement in the past.

Nietzsche-Archiv

[edit]

I think that two thirds of the projects listed on my user page have been abandoned, so I know what that's like. As to a Nietzsche-Archiv page, the German wiki article is incredibly extensive. Are you thinking about translating that entire thing into English? If so, my hat's off to you. I don't know any English works that discuss Nietzsche's reception other than the laudatory prefaces to Walter Kaufmann's translations, but the German-language sources should be good enough for Verifiability. Thanks, it's great to contribute something. The German Nietzsche-Archiv article looks fantastic, I hope an article of equivalent quality will appear in English in the future. -DWRZ 14:35, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
