Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Charlesparsons, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Charles Parsons (company), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Information icon Hello, I'm Joseph2302. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Charles Parsons (company) seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Your text additions were unsourced and promotional. Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, Charlesparsons, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:30, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Decline reason:

Although the blocking adminsitrator chose to give a block notice which said "Your username is the only reason for this block", that is certainly not the only problem, nor, in my opinion, the most important one. There is also the fact that your editing has been an unambiguous attempt to use Wikipedia for advertising, which is unacceptable. An even bigger cause for concern is that you wrote on a talk page, about your editing, "it;s [sic] not a promotional at all". If you can really sincerely believe that posting paragraph after paragraph of such unadulterated marketing-speak as "Our success is based on our customer driven approach and aligning ourselves with key suppliers who share the same values and commitment" and "Our design team are constantly coming up with new ideas and we are excited about what the future holds, so we hope you stay tuned and follow our journey" and so on and so on is not promotional, then you are so blind to the nature of your own writing that it is very doubtful whether you will ever be able to edit in the neutral way required for Wikipedia, and you certainly should not be unblocked in order to allow you to continue to edit in that way about your business.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of this page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 09:49, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason: We can't do anything about an autoblock unless you tell us what IP address is autoblocked, but in any case, in view of the fact that your account is blocked, it is unlikely that an autoblock affecting you would be lifted.
