About Bramley, Hampshire page

Charles, first off, if you haven't guessed, I'm a wiki-virgin/noob. I noticed you removed a link from a page that I added and marked it as link spam.(Page Bramley,_Hampshire). I'd edited the page to update references to one of the village magazines (in this case Bramley265) which is mentioned in the article, and included a link at the bottom of the page. Can I ask why that link was not approriate, but the one to the Parish Coucil website is? Bramley265 is non-commmerical and is run/issued for the village? Have I missed some guidelines for links on those pages :( Perhaps it should have been placed in the references? Apologies if my foopar is geniune. Was not my intention to linkspam. Am here to learn and understand the errors of my ways. TIA Chris Shinerweb (talk) 09:41, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Updated: I think I might have answered my own question, perhaps it would have been best to place a link to the Bramley265 site where I reference/mentioned it in the first place using a good old fashioned link :( Dang. Didn't think of that at the time. Would that be acceptable? Shinerweb (talk) 10:30, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

The Broadway Group

This is my adjusted posting and I'd welcome your feedback before posting -I have no desire to prolong an edit war, however I would like to move to a position where the posting is not deleted without following the dispute procedure. The website link has been removed.

Please note when you decided to remnove the TBG postin; you also deleted the section regarding the Haywards Heath Referendum Group - this episode was akin to the Guy fawkes gunpowder plot in local terms and I think that your removal of this item which was approved by a senior wiki-editor was inappropriate.

TBG was formed in November 2009 by a group of local residents living close to the Broadway in Haywards Heath.

The group was formed initially to co-ordinate resident responses to planning and licensing applications, widening its scope to include raising awareness of noise and antisocial behaviour together with objectives to broaden and improve social and cultural amenities in the area.

The group is actively engaging with MSDC - Councillors and encouraging officers enforce local government policy.

See Policy here = [1]NB: Section 1.5 details the consultation process.

TBG have held meetings with MSDC and Town Councillors, candidates for MSDC district council, Police, local residents, businesses and council officers responsible for policy implementation.

Recent consultations resulted in a record number of resident objections (42) being lodged against applications to increase opening hours and to allow the change of a shop from A1 to A3 (Bar/Restaurant) - In a landmark decision the council supported local resident opposition unanimously rejecting several applications.

I had not actually intended to remove the referendum goup, but then again I am not sure that it is worth replacing per WP:Recentism. A rule of thumb we use for inclusion is to ask "will this still seem important in ten years from now?". It is not of any great significance in the thousand year plus history of the town. The page is not meant to be a local newspaper or a community blog. There must be local sites for that. The Broadway Group does not seem to be notable in Wikipedia terms.--Charles (talk) 16:44, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

I think I got some of your mail

This was a bit of a surprise. Ian.thomson (talk) 18:31, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. How strange. Maybe got your name from the page history. Said IP still has much to learn, but is at least prepared to try. I will be helping run one of the largest karate tournaments in Europe tomorrow so I will be able to chech if he is correct in his analysis! Regards.--Charles (talk) 19:45, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Recent Revert

True, sorry about that, I tend to forget sometimes. I would like to re-insert that edit however, since I believe putting "Israeli Military Victory" in the infobox is a controversial statement and it has been put there by the same editor who's been putting "Israeli military victory" in almost all the wars/battles which involve Israel...thanksElUmmah (talk) 22:10, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

I mainly reverted it because no edit summary was given to explain it. That would help. Cheers.--Charles (talk) 22:16, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Alright sounds good then, thanks :) ElUmmah (talk) 22:25, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Austen Chamberlain

"What about William Hague?" I was not talking about Conservative Party leaders who did not become Prime Ministers. I was talking about Conservative Party leaders who did not lead the party into an election. Neither Chamberlain nor Iain Duncan Smith were Conservative Party Leaders at the time of a general election. William Hague on the other hand had led the Conservative Party into an election in 2001.

Being the leader of a party is one thing but being the leader long enough to take the party into an election is quite another thing and that is the point I was making. Matthew See (talk) 20:52, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

I have since made a little edit on this information to account for the fact that Chamberlain's brother Neville who while did become Prime Minister also didn't lead the Conservative Party into an election. Matthew See (talk) 00:05, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

My fault. I forgot Hague had fought an election. Not very memorable it seems.--Charles (talk) 00:26, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
