- Go on - give us a hint about what the problem is... Peridon (talk) 15:25, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Hello helpers! I am looking for some help and advice on what to do about my wiki page on The Grey Organisation it has been flagged/tagged(?) as being written from a fan's point of view. I would like to get it cleaned up. can someone give me an opinion or how to do this? Thanks! Chaosandvoid (talk) 15:28, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've had to remove some information, immediately - because it was potentially negative unsourced information, and involves living persons. We cannot permit that type of thing on Wikipedia; everything needs a reference, but especially any strong claims, and especially especially regarding living persons. See WP:BLP and WP:V.
More to follow. Chzz ► 15:41, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
OK, so what needs doing is, fundamentally, stating straight facts that can be checked in 'reliable sources' such as newspapers, magazine articles, and so forth - sources that are independent of the organization itself.
http://www.tokyohipstersclub.com/magazine/english_text/an_artist_wearing_a_gray_suit.html is giving me a 404 error.
None of the following seem to make any mention of Grey Organisation (unless I'm missing something);
- http://www.frieze.com/issue/review/some_drawings_from_london/ doesn't seem to mention 'grey', nor does the PDF http://maureenpaley.com/system/assets/files/985/original/history-paley-84-04.pdf
- http://maureenpaley.com/system/assets/files/985/original/history-paley-84-04.pdf
- http://artnews.org/gallery.php?i=4918&exi=20037Loud_Flash_British_Punk_on_Paper doesn't either
- http://www.haunchofvenison.com/en/index.php#page=london.exhibitions.2010.loud_flash
Discogs is not a reliable source.
Therefore, at the moment, the article does not establish 'notability' - and that is the first, most important thing; please see WP:VRS and WP:BAND.
The remainder of the article uses excessively long quotations from some publication which a) it doesn't say where it comes from, b) is presumably a primary source, and c) is unlikely to be a reliable source.
Based on your user name, I imagine you have some connection with the organization, and thus a conflict of interest - therefore, please read WP:BESTCOI for advice on how to proceed.
In order for the article to remain on Wikipedia, it needs independent, reliable sources to verify the facts. See also WP:FIRST.

Hi, the name Chaos and void (Tohu wa-bohu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tohu_wa-bohu) comes from the Torah and relates to Jewish mysticism and in no way has anything to do with Punk or the GO. I am 29 years old and far too young to have been involved in any of this. I am currently studying for a Masters degree and am focusing on Punk and anarcho aesthetics. Along the way I have interviewed and met some interesting people who I am writing about. At the time of writing all references were checked and verified I will double check them now. Thanks for your assistance
- Sorry; your personal interviews cannot be used to verify information; the facts must be published in a reliable source. See WP:V. If the information does not appear in appropriate reliable sources then it should not be in a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia does not produce any original research; we only document topics which are already documented elsewhere. Chzz ► 16:19, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay, cool... I understand that, it makes sense. I dont think there is anything left now that isn't verified or verifiable in print. references 4 to 7 dont mention GO because they are from the section 'After GO' which is from a period after the group had disbanded and only pertain to former GO member Toby Mott. I dont know what happened with the Tokyo Hipsters one. I will try and find a live link. Thanks for this help, its really appreciated.
So it seems that www.tokyohipstersclub.com has gone down, I'm sure it is only temporary as this does happen to websites from time to time. In the meantime i will search for an alternative reference.
Fair use rationale for File:Class War.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Class War.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:06, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for File:Angelic_Grey.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Angelic_Grey.png. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 04:29, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi. I have deleted the file. The non-free criterion NFCC#8 requires that non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Purely decorative images are not appropriate. The image is not discussed in the accompanying text, and does not add to our understanding of the film or the actors. Turner Exhibition links
[edit]Hello,
The reason I deleted the links to the Turner Exhibition on the various articles that you posted it on is that the link does not mention anything about Margaret Thatcher, RAC, Class War, the Poll Tax Riots, Skrewdriver, Blood & Honor, British Movement, Socialist Workers Party, Psychic TV, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Test Dept, Nicky Crane etc. All that the page says is:
Inspired by Margate, a seaside town associated throughout history with youth experience, Nothing in the World But Youth encompasses the excitement, energy and pulsating creativity of the young, bringing together over 200 works by 94 artists in an examination of youth. The exhibition reflects and examines the complex picture of teenage lives and the differing views society has of its young people since the end of the nineteenth century. It includes works by internationally and nationally acclaimed artists, including Henry Moore, Peter Blake, Sarah Lucas, Andy Warhol, Mark Leckey, Jim Lambie and David Hockney.
These will be exhibited alongside early works by JMW Turner, who visited Margate regularly during his own adolescence.
The exhibition will take four main themes as a starting point to consider society's ambivalent views of its own young people, whilst celebrating teenagers' vibrant culture and the important role they play in society: Place, Space and Territory; Groups and Individuals; Rebellion and Responsibility; and Boys, Girls, Sexuality and Growing Up.
Reflecting the vibrancy of youth culture, it will also include objects such as a jacket customised by David Bowie as a teenager, iconic footwear, and a collection of magazines, posters, and other memorabilia from the post-punk period from the Mott Collection. There will also be a special selection of films about adolescence available for visitors to watch at their leisure.
“Nothing in the World But Youth is an exciting and vibrant exhibition containing a huge range of artworks. Although it focuses on what it is to be young, the theme is universal and the content is sure to spark memories for all our visitors, young or old. The theme of youth is also particularly relevant to Margate, and the town’s own connection with youth culture” Victoria Pomery, Director Turner Contemporary.

Speedy deletion nomination of Auto Italia South East
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Auto Italia South East, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Night of the Big Wind talk 21:25, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Auto Italia LIVE.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Auto Italia LIVE.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:21, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Auto Italia South East
[edit]Okay, the article is back. But after your accusation of vandalism, you can expect me to have a very critical look at it. Please be aware that not-for-profit-organisations, just like just-for-profit-organisations, do a lot on advertising and promotion. Otherwise the stream of donations will soon dry up. I rejudge the article on monday, so you have two days to make it a neutral, non-promotional article, backed up by reliable third party sources. Good luck! File permission problem with File:44 5380262992322e5d9bbcz.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:44 5380262992322e5d9bbcz.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 17:50, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

- If you, personally, are not the copyright holder of an image (or, in this case, all of the components of the image), then documentation of the permission must be filed with Wikipedia. Please see Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries for a sample statement of permission that the copyright holder can use. If it would be useful, Commons:Commons:OTRS gives more information about the process and makes the instructions available in other languages (just per sure to use the permissions-en@wikimedia.org email address, not the Commons one). Also, since the Creative Commons license requires that the copyright holder be attributed, you need to make sure that the name of the author/copyright holder is clearly specified on the image description page. --B (talk) 16:40, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:
- dates
- years
- commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
- common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).
Also, please minimise capitalisation within infobox lists!
Thanks and my best wishes.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Non-free rationale for File:Loud flash.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Loud flash.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
