Notes
[edit]I've got a few notes for you and Mikesteve10 - I don't know if the two of you are editing together or not, but I assume that you are.
I've made some edits to the page, specifically to the introduction/lead section. I've moved the review to its own section and I've also edited the lead to remove some of the more extensive mention of the Kodavas. The reason I did this was because the sourcing wasn't specifically about this book, which is ultimately what you need here. Also, this material is redundant to what's already in the article about the Kodavas - people who want more information can click through to the main article, making it unnecessary to give huge amounts of detail in the article.
The synopsis section needs to be re-written. There are a lot of non-neutral passages in there that come across as your personal perspective on things. Anything that could be seen as an opinion needs to either be attributed to the book's author clearly (such as "according to.." "described by the author as...") or they need to be removed because ultimately perspectives and opinions are subjective to the reader. While one person may see something as 'fascinating', the next person may not.
With sourcing, I would pretty much stick to things that specifically cover the book. Sources that don't cover the book can't show where the book is notable. If you're using them to back up things that the author wrote in the book, it's better to use the book itself as a source. It still wouldn't be able to give notability, but readers would be able to verify that the author included this in her work. The issue with using sources that don't cover the book is that we can't guarantee that the author made these specific points in the book or made them clearly, which would make the use of such sources potentially original research. Being used in the synopsis section implies that these are things that are covered in the book.
I hope that this helps. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 20:05, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
