Tampa, Florida reference

[edit]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. You did a bunch of thing "right" on your first edit, and I hope you find other topics to contribute to.

I changed the format of your reference so that it fit with the other article references, here [1]

The information you added was appropriate and useful. You would be surprised how often that isn't the case! So you're off to a good start.

Where there's an issue is citing a page with huge letters "Sandra Johnson Photography". Don't be surprised if another editor leaves the information, but deletes the reference. (Or deletes both.) As you may know Wikipedia is not an advertising platform, and a general rule of thumb is that a company or place is allowed ONE external link, but only if that company is the topic of the article. I.e., a link to "Sandra Johnson Photography" would be allowed, if that was the topic of the article. Even the "External links" on the Tampa article are bending the rules, maybe slightly. (Oh, and creating a new article "Sandra Johnson Photography" won't work, unless your photos have been purchased by major museums, etc. the article would be deleted as not being "notable" WP:NOTABILITY.)

Where your addition might be seen to be "too much advertising" is that 3/4 of the top of the page has nothing to do with rainy days. Clever companies create Web page references which are long, professional, themselves well-referenced, and have 1% advertising. Cheers! Piano non troppo (talk) 01:35, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
