A tag has been placed on Grecco (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thank you.

The article Grecco (band) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:07, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Grecco (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Gilo ö 22:11, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted

[edit]

Hi there, I read your notice on the talkpage of the article, and why you believe the article should be kept. If I summorise it correctly, it is because there are other, much similar articles about bands that are not deleted, and that you believe Wikipedia shouldn't be so strict on what they include. Let's first explain why the article is deleted: Wikipedia has a set of guidelines what articles are allowed, and what not. Over the years, we have come to the consensus that we don't cover subjects that don't fall under our notability guideline (you can find it at WP:N). I understand that you believe the guideline is too strict. There are others too, who believe that, but it is rather widely regarded as valid. If you believe that the guidelines are too strict, you could start a discussion about it. I would urge you to become a little more versed in Wikipedia's processes and do's and dont's before you start such a discussion. Many people have already given many oppinions about it, and it would be wise to know something about it, before bringing it up. That also brings me to a second point: You have a conflict of intrest here (see WP:COI). People who edit Wikipedia do so (or at least, we believe they do so) because they want to make the encyclopedia better. The problem is, that doesn't seem to be your only aim, you also want that Wikipedia has an article on the band, because you want to support that band. That makes things difficult, because your judgement on inclusion is colored by your desire to have the article on Wikipedia.
The second thing you bring up is that there are many similar articles on Wikipedia that are not deleted. If that is so, then we made a mistake not deleting those. There are a lot of editors going over new articles though, and I think that you will find that mose of those articles do meet WP:N, the notability guideline I mentioned earlier. But even if they don't that doesn't make this article fit for inclusion. I understand that you find this unfair. That is not what Wikipedia does. Wikipedia doesn't care about fair or unfair to the articles, or to the creators of articles, as harsh as that may sound. We just want to collaborate, and make a good encyclopedia.
This may not be the warmest of welcomes to Wikipedia, and for that I am sorry. I hope I made it clear why the article was deleted, and I hope, even if this article is deleted from Wikipedia, you like this place, and decide to stay, and help us out improving articles. If you need any help, just ask on my talkpage, or put your question here, with a nice {{helpme}} template. Someone will hurry over, and answer your questions.
