Your sentences are written in NPOV, which is great, just a few suggestions:
- "Metabolic programming focuses on changes in metabolism during critical developmental periods and on later health outcomes." I think get rid of the comma here and add the word and?
- Instead of starting a sentence with the word whereas, consider making these two sentences one and just adding a comma; alternatively you could alter that sentence by saying something like "Metabolic imprinting, on the other hand, specifically refers to changes in the metabolism at a genomic level."
