Copyright
[edit]By the way, about the Serebryakova voter's card? I'm sorry, but Wikipedia has some strict policies on copyright, and the image might be deleted unless we can fix the informoation. DS 16:17, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
About the Elector card and copyrights
[edit]The elector card is in the collection of the family. The copyright is absolutly clear but we do not want this to be used without our permission. We need to know where it is used. By the way, all the pictures of Zinaida Sérébriakovo are under copyright of 1) the museum, 2) of the society of authors ADAGP in France (but they have correspondant in every country) and without a special permission of the family, you cannot used pictures for free. And you have to mentionned every time The name of the painter, the name of the work, the date, the name of the collection, and ADAGP and the year of first use! As the family is very conscious of the importance of the article on Wikipedia we will ask the ADAGP to accept the use of several pictures. Please be kind to send me the list and provenance of them Catherine Boncenne 16:40, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
I have deleted this image because you indicated that only Wikipedia has permission to use this file. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, since explicit permission to use it was given, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with this restriction on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it.

- I believe she has rights to the card because she is the niece of Serebryakova and Head of the Serebriakova Trust. [1].
- She did some anon edits from IP address 87.89.69.135 to change the spelling of Serebryakova in the article and subsequently registered as User:Cboncenne and did that again.
- She has identified herself as Catherine Boncenne.
- The IP address 87.89.69.135 corresponds to bne75-1-87-89-69-135.dsl.club-internet.fr.
- She is a contact for Siny Most in Paris with email address sinymost@club-internet.fr.
- The image of the "Elector Card" was identified as being from the "Family collection, copyright CBoncenne/Siny Most".
- What more identifying information should be added to the image?
- Could you recommend an appropriate copyright statement for the image?
- Also, it seems to have the address obscured, perhaps for reasons of privacy — is that a concern?

- As far as I'm concerned I believe (in good faith) that this user Cboncenne is the copyright holder of this image. However, it is not acceptable for her to upload an image stating that she licenses it only for use on Wikipedia or only for non commercial use. In order to make it available on here she must be willing to license the image under a free license. Hope this makes sense. └ UkPaolo/talk┐ 17:15, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
So be kind to help me because as it is an official french paper and it cannot be modified. Beside I need to know who is using it and why.Catherine Boncenne 17:23, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry - I understand that, but if you want to know exactly who is using it I'm afraid you cannot upload the image to Wikipedia - that's simply not what the project is about. └ UkPaolo/talk┐ 17:39, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I am pleased that you are taking an interest in developing the article and that you are familiar with copyright issues. Personally, I found the Elector Card image disturbing in a way that I find hard to explain. I now believe that it would be preferable to think about getting permission to add more of her artistic work to the article. As you may know, the entire gallery was removed because a fair use rationale does not permit galleries. Here is the explanation that I received from Alex Bakharev, who originally uploaded the gallery images. --Jtir 17:44, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
