Doubt

[edit]

Hi greetings, I reverted this edit finding it as vandalism. Is this a test edit. Should I undo it? Kindly please help.--PATH SLOPU 07:09, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Path slopu, This is not a test edit. Test edit(s) usually are those first few edits made by new user (this user has made more than 80 edits) and content added/removed such as "Hi", removing an alphabet and etc. Sometimes editors remove a word and then add it back (we call this "self-revert test edit" - Huggle has automated message for this). The key here is that the editor intention is to "test" how to edit or see what they have edited would reflect on the page after they saved/published their edit. Primary sources would be used in an article, but they just cant demonstrate/contribute to the notability of the subject. If the content is WP:PROMOTIONAL or violation of copyright or unsourced content then they can be removed. The edit would considered {{subst:uw-delete}} and you can also add additional/personal comments on editor page when the "automatic warning messages" do not fully serve/inform what you want to convey such as letting them know rm unsourced content is ok but not source content without good reasons. (Note:if the editor remove content and claims the content is faulty against sources provided, then you need to read the source(s)in the article to check if the editor claimed is correct before action). Huggle

[edit]

CASSIOPEIA:-Hi greetings, when logging in to huggle which one should be used to login with normal username and password-Bot password or Legacy?--PATH SLOPU 12:15, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Path slopu Hi, There are two way to long in to Huggle - see Wikipedia:Huggle/Privacy and using Bot is more secure - see Manual:Huggle/Bot passwords. However, to use Huggle needs to have rollback permission. You would request rollaback on the end of the program when you family with the counter vandalism. Btw, when you have the access to Huggle, pls remember to store Huggle bot username and bot passwork as from my experience, from time to time, the system would clear the username and save passwork in login window. The system also request you to renter your username and password if you change your Wikipedia password. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 09:28, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.--PATH SLOPU 13:29, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

[edit]

CASSIOPEIAHi greetings, thank you very much for the helps. Did I qualify to apply for rollback permission now? Should I wait for some more time? Kindly please give your opinion. --PATH SLOPU 08:01, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Path slopu Hi, You would apply the right now but better to wait after the 7 day monitoring period, for you would have done more vandalism edits. After the monitoring period, final exam would be followed. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 13:54, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

[edit]

@CASSIOPEIA:Hi greetings, I was in offline for previous week because of some personal reasons. I couldn't complete the Final exam at that time. I'm apologizing for that. Now I'll complete the exam as soon as possible. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 09:04, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Path slopu Greetings. Understand your situation and apologies needed. I aware you have not been editing since 26 April and you had inform me in the past when you need to take a week or so to attend to your personal need. Since you didnt inform me, I was a little concern if everything is ok with you and about to write to if I have not heard from you by this week. It is good that you are back and take your time to work through exam. When you are ready, then ping me and let me know. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 09:58, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CASSIOPEIA:Thank you. I encounters a little problem in exam regarding reporting in ANI (3RR). I tried to find such edits from recent changes using different filters like #undo, etc. But I couldn't. Is there any tools to find such edits? Please help. Regards.--PATH SLOPU 11:12, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Path slopu You have access to Huggle so check the revert from the edits and look for the editor summary where editors disagree with each other. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:52, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CASSIOPEIA:There is an issue in article Robert-Falcon Ouellette on 3RR. Can we report it? Please check.PATH SLOPU 16:48, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Path slopu Hi, the editor made 4 edits but only 3 were reverted edits, which does not qualify 3RR as we need one more reverted edit from the editor. 3RR usually could be found in the edits where editor(s) dispute the content which make by other editor(s). If a user made vandalized edits, then we would revert and warn the editor. Editors usually involve in 3RR actions on the pages whereby the subject involves, not excluding to disruptive, and / or in a controversial incident(s), subject(nation) has conflict with another nation (such as India/Pakistan), sportsperson who has dual citizenship. We always encourage the involved content dispute editors to discuss matter in the article talk page to seek consensus resolution and if they could not come to an agreement in the article talk page then advice the involved editors to bring and address the mater to WP:AN3 where admin would help to solve the issue. See example here [1] from 17:08, November 16, 2018 to 01:40, November 20, 2018‎ and see this editor [2] contribution log - that is violation of 3RR. Sometimes, IP editors use several accounts (registered and IP) to revert the edits, usually you would see if the registered user is new (register at same date and time during the edit warring occurring), or registered user(s) logged out and then edit/revert the same edit which made when they logged in, which is considering WP:SOCK and would report it to WP:SPI for detail check or quick check. For 3RR you could report to WP:AN/3RR. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:25, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@CASSIOPEIA:Thank you very much for clarification. I have one more doubt, in final exam, when I reporting a user(3RR) where should I do it?- ANI or AN3. I did one in ANI, but they preferred me to report in AN3. Please help.--PATH SLOPU 04:34, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Path slopu, Hi, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring has some shortcuts and there are WP:AN/3, WP:AN3, WP:AN/EW, WP:ANEW, WP:AN/3RR, so if you click on any of the link above, it will redirect back to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. For 3RR report the incident to the said above page. Wikipedia has many investigation pages. WP:ANI is for "urgent incidents and chronic, intractable behavioral problems edits done by certain user(s)", where discussion and admin intervention would be taken place. Hope the above clarify the diff between ANI and AN3. Btw I have added/change a character here and there on my above message as my fingers tend to move faster than my keyboard could capture my intention (my touch on the keypad) (my laptop keyboard is not as sensitive as I wish). Apologies. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:57, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Path slopu, Note, I have made some minor changes above. Might need to re-read my message. Apologies for the inconvenient caused. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:04, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CASSIOPEIA:Thank you very much. No need of apology to me. I am not worthy for bear it. Regards--PATH SLOPU 05:16, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Path slopu, pls see additional info highlighted in green. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:53, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Problem

[edit]

@CASSIOPEIA:Hi greetings, I encounters a problem when using Huggle. Huggle only shows the diff of latest revision. It may be vandalism and I reverted it. But there are GF edits made by same vandal in back. That also get reverted. What should I do to avoid this? I think this is a serious matter. Is normal undo is appropriate here? Please help.--PATH SLOPU 05:50, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Path slopu pls provide hist diff. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:58, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CASSIOPEIA:Please check this history page. Regards.--PATH SLOPU 08:33, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please check this also
Path slopu Hi, you provided me the article talk page but not the hist diffs. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:53, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CASSIOPEIA:Hi, I provided the link to the page histories, not talk pages. Please check.--PATH SLOPU 08:47, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Path slopu Sorry, what I meant was you provided the article history page but not the hist diffs. Hist diffs specify the edits of your questions. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 08:51, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@CASSIOPEIA:Did you mean the diffs of problematic edits in article? Regards. PATH SLOPU 08:56, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
These are diff of my edits.PATH SLOPU 08:58, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Path slopu Hi, if you are not sure about the info added is vandalize edit, especially in the infobox, such as how many wins/participation/goal for sportperson, then just leave it as it is, and let the more experience vandal fighters to deal with it or to those who are interested in the article and have knowledge of the subject. Secondly, if a unsourced content is added, you could revert and warn with "unsourced" warnings (be mindful of 3RR). Hunggle will remove all edits made by the same editor when you revert one of the edits. If you happen make a mistake (warn wrongly/revert a good edit) then self revert your edit and send message to the involved editor who you had just warn and apologize of your mistake and remove the warning message you had made. We all do mistakes from time to time and me included, as sometime we pointed to the wrong line (wrong editor) in Hunggle and warn the wrong editor. I happened to me that I had warned an editor and when the same editor made another vandalised edit, I click my name in Hunggle and warn myself instead of the vandalised editor. You also might encounter when a few vandal fighters revert and warn the vandalised editor at the same time, due to min time lapse in the system, you might instead warn the vandal fighter. If this occurs, just remove the warning message from the vandal fighter talk page and apologize.
Additional note, I normally use both Hunggle and Twinkle tools as sometime Hunggle does not capture the command made and no warning message is given to the vandalised editor, then we could just go to the vandalised editor talk page and place the warning via Twinkle. Also sometime an editor just revert the edit without placing warning message, we could just place the warning via Hunggle or Twinkle. As Huggle provides many panels of info, for such, it limits the display of the article on the screen, article hist info, such as we could not see the lead section at times, how image added look like, we just go to the article and check/confirm the info change. There are many short cuts for certain commands at Huggle, there some some commonly use (click "[" to see previous edit made and pointed to the vandalised editor and click "t" to check editor talk page, click "m" to send message to editor at Hunggle, and click "space" for next line of edit made by other editor. Lastly, you could check the blocked editors at AIV, especially those have been blocked with indef, and see the nature of edits they made. Admins would usually give indef block for widespread, gregarious vandalism made by vandalized editors for this will help you to understand more about vandalsim in Wikipedia. Hope this help. @CASSIOPEIA:Thank you very much for advice. Apology for delaying of final exam. I'll try to complete it as soon as possible. Regards.--PATH SLOPU 07:30, 10 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
