Ken Tony
Hi. You appear to be mentoring Ken Tony, so I'm thinking a word of guidance from you might be helpful at User talk:Ken Tony#Rapid Discount Outlet? 82.17.168.217 (talk) 13:59, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Ken Tony and 82.17.168.217:, 82.17.168.217 Thank you for the message above. I have read the link you sent over at Ken Tony talk page.
- Ken Tony, You have reverted a series of edits made by the IP editor. If the capital character is the issue then, just edit it instead of removing all the edit. Please be careful next time when doing counter vandalism work and especially for a counter vandalism editor, if we have done something incorrect and was informed of our mistakes, then we should apologies and take note not to do the same thing again. Stay safe. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:25, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks (and thanks Ken Tony too, for your work against vandalism). 82.17.168.217 (talk) 09:48, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Why removal of Nickname? "Without strife, your victory has no meaning. Without strife, you do not advance. Without strife, there is only stagnation.""Without strife, your victory has no meaning. - Threesom666 Good day. Frist of all, pls provide the page name and the hist diff of the question you mentioned in your message so I (and other editors) would know what is the message related to. This is your edit and I have explained by provided the link on the edit summary when I removed the nickname on the lead section - see here-2. As per MOS:LEADCLUTTER guidelines, we dont put the name nick in the lead section. The nick name is already placed in the infobox on the page where it is supported by source. Pls do not ask the same question in multiple talk page but keep it in one place. Lastly Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (

Sherdog
Hi Cass. In this edit you asked FormalDude to stick to the source. He has reinstated the edit here. Please could you explain to them asap? Thanks. NEDOCHAN (talk) 07:57, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN thank you for you message. In the MMA guidelines even thought Sherdog is used for the fight table info; however, since the source is reliable and independent then the fight method can be used besides Sherdog. This is particularly difficult as some other source might indicate different fight method. The only thing is to gather other independent, reliable sources that have diff fight method and open a discussion on the talk page or just let the current method stay as it is. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:32, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Please go to dispute resolution. I'd appreciate some support as the very edit you reverted is in question.NEDOCHAN (talk) 09:36, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Another attack on WP:MMA
FYI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard#Conor_McGregor NEDOCHAN (talk) 09:29, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN This should be discuss in the Conor talk page to invite everyone for a discussion prior first. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:37, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- I agree, but it's being discussed here through no choice of my own. Please could you help explain? NEDOCHAN (talk) 09:41, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN I didnt know there is a discussion. I need to read the talk page first to know the issues in hand. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Of course, thanks. I really can't stand the effort I go to being ruined by people who have no interest in the subject and haven't contributed. I have been tirelessly correcting fight records across the site for years, making sure they align with the source. Then people come along and mess it up, and I get banned. Without sourcing, we have nothing. I am tempted to leave the site altogether as my efforts are never appreciated.NEDOCHAN (talk) 09:50, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN You work is always appreciate by those who know your edits. I know it is frustrated at times but we do have a small number of dedicate mma editors who work together to improve the pages. I have commented on the DRN on the term to compromise as IRS (independent, reliable sources) is core policies of Wikipedia. I hope the comprise do see the case close speedily. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:00, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Your proposal is a good one, but you haven't addressed the KO in the second fight that they changed to TKO after you'd asked them not to.NEDOCHAN (talk) 10:02, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- @NEDOCHAN: That would probably be because Cassiopeia never asked me not to change the 24 January, 2021 fight results from KO to TKO. As I've said before, I only did that because it was pointed out in an edit request by another user. ––FORMALDUDE(talk) 10:13, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- I really hope, for your sake, that you're able to understand why that edit, regarding UFC 264, the THIRD matchup between McGregor and Poirier, a fight that took place on 10 July, 2021, is not related to my edit regarding UFC 257, the SECOND matchup between McGregor and Poirier, that took place on 24 January, 2021. ––FORMALDUDE(talk) 10:45, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN Solve one thing first. Be careful of 3RR in the future as I just saw the hist log on Conor's page and your talk page. Stay safe. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:21, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- NEDOCHAN I have commented on UFC 257, sources I checked (brief, and quick) indicate TKO. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:45, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- @FormalDude and NEDOCHAN: DRN issues have been resolved. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:58, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Cheers! ––FORMALDUDE(talk) 10:59, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- @FormalDude and NEDOCHAN: DRN issues have been resolved. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:58, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Cassiopeia Currently, the wording does not support what was agreed. It was clearly agreed to say TKO (leg injury) it says TKO (Doctor's stoppage due to leg injury)NEDOCHAN (talk) 11:08, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- FormalDude Hi Could you change it to "TKO (leg injury) on method and "due to doctor stoppage" on note pls? on the UFC 264 fight table. Cassiopeia(talk) 11:14, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Done. Looks like User:Bastun made that change, probably without reading the entire DRN outcome. ––FORMALDUDE(talk) 11:17, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- @FormalDude and NEDOCHAN: Thank you FromalDude and Nedochan - all is good now. Good night Gentlemen. Cassiopeia(talk) 11:20, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Unfortunately the DRN was reopened. I do think we might be able to resolve it quickly with your input though. At least the article dispute should be able to be resolved quickly. ––FORMALDUDE(talk) 12:39, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- FormalDude Thanks for informing. I believe the discussion has move to subject talk page. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:24, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Dustin Poirier
RE: "Hello, I'm Cassiopeia. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Dustin Poirier, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 23:33, 11 July 2021 (UTC)"
I don't understand. I only added "broken tibia", and it is still there. It was also sited in the included Ref.
"Poirier won the fight in round one via doctor stoppage after McGregor suffered an ankle injury (broken tibia) and was unable to continue.[86]"
[86] Anderson, Jay (2021-07-11). "UFC 264 Results: Conor McGregor Breaks Leg, Trilogy Fight with Dustin Poirier Ends Early". Cageside Press. Retrieved 2021-07-11.
I am confused. Msjayhawk (talk) 16:46, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Msjayhawk Good day and thank you for your message above. This] was your edit and the source (Cageside Press) indicated broken leg but not specialty stated "broken tibia". Broken leg can be the femur, ulna or tibia is/are broken. If you can find a source indicate broken tibia, you are welcome to add the info back and also provide inline citation to support the claim. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:15, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, though you did give a valid explaination for the diamond nickname. A lot of wiki pages have it on there name. I dont think there is anything wrong with the nickname being on the name as well.- Threesom666
- Threesom666 Wikipedia article name is used COMMON NAME guidelines which means if the subject is well-know by their common name instead of their real name then the common name will be the article title - example such as Hannibal and Pink which the real names are Hannibal Barca and Alecia Beth Moore respectively. . If a nick name/alias is the common name such as Magic Johnson and Ike Villanueva then in the lead section we would put Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr. and Isaac "Ike" James Villanueva respectively if their full names are known and sourced. For those subjects' nick names are not the common names/article names example Dustin Poirier page, then we could put Dustin Glenn Poirier, 9 (born January 19, 1989), known professionally / also known as / better known as / nicknamed "Diamond" .............. . You can read Wikipedia Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography guidelines for more information if you are interested. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 06:26, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Much better explained that I didnt know about.
I do really like the diamond nickname but your right. It’s not big enough to go with his name. Thank you for your contributions. "Without strife, your victory has no meaning. Without strife, you do not advance. Without strife, there is only stagnation.""Without strife, your victory has no meaning. Without strife, you do not advance. Without strife, there is only stagnation." (talk) 23:03, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Cassiopeia! My name is RFZYNSPY (pronounceable as R-F-zine-spy or however you like). I'm a relatively new Wikipedia editor, with about 200 edits. Most of these have been reversions of vandalism or other small changes. I'm interested in learning more about countering vandalism in a way that is fair and always assumes good faith. Would you be interested in taking me on as a student? If you need more information or would like to discuss this further, please let me know on my talk page. From there, I can send you an email (I don't have my email visible on the site).
Thanks for your consideration!

Hi Cassiopeia,Nice to talk with you . I have experience of around 11 months in English Wikipedia in these period I had learnt many things further more I want to learn more about Vandalism. How can I be your student? Thank you !Fade258 (talk) 04:56, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Fade258 Good day. Pls note that the program do need a lot of of your time to read and to work on the assignment (10 in total plus the final exam). There is not time frame to complete the assignment; however, if you need to take a break due to some personal engagement/sickness to work on the assignment more than 10 days after the assignment is posted, then pls inform me. Many participants abandon the program due to they didnt anticipate the amount of work/time is needed to work on the assignment. If you still interest to join the point after the info above, then pop back here and let me know so I can set up the program for you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 06:38, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Can you tell me the time taken for this program?i.e for example 1-2, 3-5, or 4-9 hours per day.Fade258 (talk) 06:53, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Fade258 It depends how much time you spend on the reading material and assignments. Some assignments are easy and some are harder. Most participants complete the program in 6 to 8 weeks. I dont know how much time they spent each day as every participant spent their time on Wikipedia as they saw appropriate to their time availability. When a new assignment is given, there is always some reading material and some questions. Once you have complete the assignment, then you ping me. I usually reviewed within 48 hours after your ping. You can ask question at anytime except for the final exam. Once the assignment is reviewed. Pls go through my comments. If you have questions, then you can ask on the communication section of that assignment to make sure you understand the topic well. If no questions then we can proceed to next assignment. Btw, if yo are not familiar with the basic Wikipedia guidelines then pls complete the WP:TWA program first prior taking this one. TWA would require about 90 mins of your time since it is a very short program but extremely valuable for you will gain the fundamental basic Wikipedia guidelines. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:04, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- I give time only for 1-3 hours a day.Is it ok? If it is ok then i am ready to join this program.Fade258 (talk) 10:34, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Fade258 Every participant spent different amount of time on the assignments, for some they progress very quickly as they could understand the reading material and answered the questions swiftly; and other editors have difficult to digest the reading material provided and lack motivation to proceed. Most of the editors who abandoned the program were new editors who have less than 1k main space edits. You have been editing Wikipedia for sometime now and should be able to find certain edits required (such as vandalism / test /etc. edits) and I believe as long as you reading the material, do the assignments, ask questions/ask for help when needed, you should not have issues to compete the program. I will set up program for you once you have completed the TWA program. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:51, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- I am not able to earn TWA Badge by consecutive numbers as i earn 1,5,7,8,9 but i have some knowledge about Vandalism, Twinkle, Rollback, etc.If you are satisfied my statement then join me in your program.Thank you!Fade258 (talk) 06:20, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- Fade258 I have set up the program for you, pls read the communication section at the bottom of assignment 1 prior starting answer the questions. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:18, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Sourcing
Hi Cassiopeia. Can you link to the policy you're referring to on Independent Reliable Sourcing, please? Please take it that after 15 years on WP, I have read and am very familiar with both the WP:V policy and the WP:RS guideline. I have linked to WP:NEWSORG, WP:CONTEXTMATTERS and WP:RSSELF, already, which all apply. So also do various sections of WP:IS. Cheers, BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 10:29, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Recent changes
- A new version of MediaWiki came to the Wikimedia wikis the week before last week. This was not in Tech News because there was no newsletter that week.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 27 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 28 July. It will be on all wikis from 29 July (calendar).
Future changes
- If you use the Monobook skin you can choose to switch off responsive design on mobile. This will now work for more skins. If

is unticked you need to also untick the new preferenceEnable responsive mode
. Otherwise it will stop working. Interface admins can automate this process on your wiki. You can read more.

July 2022
I'm sorry, but I can't understand at all how was my edit in Mark Coleman "not constructive." The name Giant Vabo lacked a link to his article, and I put it up, just that.
Similarly, I can't understand why you also reverted my edit in Alistair Overeem. The article's current quote about why Overeem didn't like to train at first sounded exceedingly ambiguous and de-contextualized to me, and I just added more info already contained in the sourced article to make it clearer.
May I have a more through explanation for those, please? Metalune (talk) 15:06, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- Metalune Good day. Thank you for the message above. The two edits you made - here 1 and - here-2. You change the info without providing an edit summary . If the info is supported by existing source, then say so in the edit summary prior post the edit. If the link change due to whatever reason, then say so in the edit summary so it could be checked out. If you would like to change the info/content which is not supported by the existing source, then add the source (inline citation) so it can be verified. Stay safe and thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:30, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- So it was the edit summary all along. Thank you for your clarifications. Metalune (talk) 15:10, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- Metalune Good day. Edit summary, a way of communication among editors, gives a brief info of the reasons of your edits made so other editors know why the info is added or changed and if needed other editors could verify the info. Example of edit summaries, for correction of spelling just put "spelling"; removing of unsourced content, put "rm unsoursed"; rephrased the the sentences, just put "reword as per source" etc. If needed then give a longer explanation. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 23:53, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
Brabo choke or D'Arce choke?
I saw what the Tony Ferguson fan had to say and it does raise an interesting point. I've looked over the sources for the fight results and all of them have the submission listed as "D'Arce choke". Seeing as how a majority of the sources have it listed differently than Sherdog, should I change them? RafaelHP (talk) 05:26, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- RafaelHP Pls bring the issue to the article talk page and provide both D'Arce choke and Brobo choke source (independent, reliable sources (IRS)) and make your case. If most IRS state Darce then we can change it. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 05:47, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
