I've done as much as I could on the inline refs. I can't see (maybe I'm blind?) any other places for the remaining references to be placed to override the Harvard ref system, so I just normalised them instead. If you could see if I've missed anything, it would be greatly appreciated. That will probably be all the work I'll be doing on the article for today. See you around Cas. :) Spawn Man 05:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Collaboration templates on article rather than talk pages
[edit]G'day David, I noted the shifting of the current collab template. I currently organize both the dinosaur and fungi collaborations and to date the collab has always been on the article page. Is there are rule on this somewhere? Was about to revert back but thought i'd check first. cheers Cas Liber 09:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello! I don't know whether discussion specifically pertaining to WikiProject collaboration templates has occurred, but the "article page vs. talk page" debate arises from time to time. The consensus is that banners not related to specific problems with the articles should be confined to talk pages. (In fact, there's just barely consensus to include templates related to specific problems on article pages.)
- The logic is that casual readers should be informed of specific problems (which may call into question the integrity of the articles that they're reading), but they needn't be distracted with meta-information intended for editors (which interested parties will seek out).
- For example, tags prescribing cleanup or alleging that articles' content is somehow inappropriate (non-NPOV, inaccurate, et cetera) belong on article pages. Conversely, tags along the lines of image request templates (which merely provide suggestions for improving articles) belong on talk pages.
- Meanwhile, it's widely accepted that WikiProject banners belong on talk pages. (Otherwise, countless articles would be crawling with them.) That's why they usually incorporate the designated talk page template design scheme (which you're using for the {{WikiProject Fungi Collaboration}} template). —David Levy 23:04, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your help so far. I've left a commentary on my actions at the article's talk page. It's looking half decent, but I'm unsure of what to do for a few things. Thanks, Spawn Man 03:13, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw the banner discussion above. Generally, projects don't place banners on article pages, instead in talks. However, I'm not a general type of guy & unless there's some firm rule on it, I see no harm in continuing in our ways. Expanded quite a bit, on the article too. See talk page for my concerns however. - Alas, I've hit a dead wall on Archie... I'll give an update & maybe you can see if you would be able to do anything? I've created a Description section & merged many elements of the article into it. I've shuffled around the headers a bit. I've redone the opening a tad. I've deleted the pop culture section until more can be added. I've (with your help of course) finished what inline citations there were, but refs are still not inline. Other than that, the prose is bad, which I've tried to fix, Taxonomy is wierd & probably needs to go under a subheader, The opening still needs work & overall more stuff & pics need to be added... Thanks, Spawn Man 04:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Reward board
[edit]Hey Firs, did you ever get (part of) a reward from Kelly Martin? I never saw nor heard any reply.....cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 21:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oh my gosh! I thought you had collected the reward, and had been patting myself on the back all this time, thinking we did a great job, and someone really deserving received the reward. No, I definitely did not get (part of) a reward. I think you should beat her door down. ;) Or at least ask politely for it. She did offer, after all. Firsfron of Ronchester 05:02, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I just don't know what to do with it anymore.... On a more serious note, all the stuff I posted above still counts & I've done what I can. - Thanks for the note, Cas! I'm so glad we got this one up to FA status. This article was in really bad shape for a long time; it was seriously neglected. Thanks for your contributions. On a minor note, I had to remove the image of Father Ted on talk pages; Fair Use images may only appear in article space. Sowwy. I'd never heard of the show. We don't get a whole lot of British TV here (PBS airs very very old British sitcoms, which appear to be from the '70s mostly; SciFi only shows Dr Who and Hex; there's a BBC America, too, but all of British television won't fit on one channel; naturally, we don't get any Australian shows). Dino collab
[edit]I'd just like to congratulate you on the work you've done so far with the dinosaur collaboration. Although it's a bit messier than I would have kept it lol, since I handed the reigns over to you, you've done a great job & many of the dinosaurs you've put up there have been churned out winners. You're a real asset to the team (Wikiproject dinos) & you've got more enthusiasm into the group than I ever did, especially with the collaboration. I'm awarding you the dinostar brought in by myself & Sango for your superb work & I hope we can continue working together on articles, as you're always a great help & morale booster. Cheers, (And no I don't want any perscription drugs in return...) ;) Spawn Man 04:47, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm... Why does the formatting for the dino collab say the articles stay until June 17th? You nomination rules say articles stay for 3 months, yet June 17th allows some to stay for over 4. Also, the bolded text before your nominations states that the winner will be announced on March 17th - allowing 1 week for tie breaking votes? Very confusing indeed, especially since old nominations are meant to be wiped out after new winner.... If you'll let me, can I tidy things up to make voting more coherant? I was thinking that the format could just say "Stays until [[DATE 3 MONTHS LATER]] [[YEAR]]" And that noms wouldn't be wiped out after winners were announced, so late commers would stay longer? Confusing, but you'll see what I mean if you'll allow me to edit page... Thanks Cas... Spawn Man 04:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I've tidied up the voting. So let me get this sraight. Every 1 month you wipe the slate clean & pick the leader from that group. Then you wait for people to nominate or nominate some dinos etc yourself. They stay for the next 1 month. Then repeat process? Am I correct. If so, it sounds great. I've edited the formatting for the nomination voting format too. I'm going to delete the "Stays until date year etc" as why do we really need that if they only stay for the month before they are removed? Is that okay? You can revert me if I'm wrong lol. So, the voting system is going really well at the moment with those few tweaks & it's really working on churning out winning articles. Regards, Spawn Man 07:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I know, but I thought I'd give you 1 month so I'd be clear on what the limit really was... Well the collab looks spectacular now, so I'm off to try & work on another of my Wikiproject's articles - Wikiproject years. Thanks Cas. Spawn Man 00:15, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi
[edit]Thank you for your encouragement to nominate Bald Eagle. However, after reading the statement written by Benjamin Franklin: For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.
With all this Injustice, he is never in good Case but like those among Men who live by Sharping & Robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank Coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the District. He is therefore by no means a proper Emblem for the brave and honest country of America who have driven all the King birds from our Country...
I am on this account not displeased that the Figure is not known as a Bald Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America . . . He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on.
I have decided not to nominate it. Haha... Thanks. Luffy487 07:05, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well... haha... I have already supported your idea and effort to improve the article Bird. Luffy487 08:21, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Thescelosaurus
[edit]Interesting to read, no obvious grammatical errors jump out. Images compliment, though the 1915 Charles Gilmore on the left looks awkward , I possibly move it up to the top of the section on the right edge enlarge to 300-350px. except this image the overall layout looks good. The technical issues cites, MOS, UOM are all fine. Maybe consider 2 columns for the references but not necessary.
Personally I found it hard going to read, too much speculation in the wording. To me the prose would get knocked as not compelling. I'll be back for a second read tonight and I'll concentrate on this and highlight examples. Gnangarra 00:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

- Congratulations on the nomination; I've already registered my support... but that shouldn't stop you from declining or deferring if you should so choose. You should know that a lot of nominations get opposed on such trivial grounds as low edit summary usage, poor involvement in AfD discussions, etc. You might find you'll have a smoother run if you defer this for a little while while you address those aspects. - All set up for you to go! You should do well - thanks for accepting. Not meaning to steal your thunder, but your answer to Question 1 may be disputed (i.e. "Per question 1, the user makes no attempt as to why he needs the tools. Editing articles doesn't need sysop abilities" - This is a common comment on RfA's). From my experience in the RfA ward, people tend to want a detailed answer to that particular question, yet you haven't entirely answered the question, saying you've tinkered around a bit. If you want to, you may want to try & expand & such, giving a detailed answer - you don't have to & if you think you can make it by all means don't take my advice. It's just that, advice, you need not take it. :) Argh! My comp's a complete mess on Wikipedia at the moment! It takes forever to get from page to page! Only this site. Grrr.... Have a nice time... - Well I did have help from you guys... We're going to be busy! I've created a few articles, nom'd you & Archie too! Geesh, let's just hope this FAC isn't like T. rex & that your RfA isn't like mine lol... ;) Spawn Man 07:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah - look I'll try to get it in there as quickly as possible. cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 07:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Lol, don't why you were looking at me Cas in the Archie FAC - you know I'm not that brilliant with stuff like that lol. Anyhoo, I'm not quite sure what to do in regard to Peta's comments - it looks like you guys have fixed it already, but just making sure you weren't waiting on me as I have no idea about taxo boxes unless they're very basic. In one way, it kinda shows our achievement if we get this featured, since Archie is one of the most confusing etc dinosaurs/birds ever. Thanks & everything seems to be going well on both Archie FAC & your nom too... Spawn Man 08:20, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
The dino genus
[edit]I'll try to give that a full read soon. "There was much subsequent discussion over whether the remains were actually of a heart or not" is a dissatisfying way to end an intro—give us the outcome.
Looking down I'm wondering if it's over-cited, but will have to look closer. Marskell 07:06, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
current facs
[edit]Much as I'd like to I don't really think we can claim archeopteryx as much to do with Wikiproject birds, its pretty much the dino project's baby! Sabine's Sunbird talk 03:22, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Good for him! Well, I guess I won't feel so bad if its listed as a bird fa then. I'm glad someone made it that quality. Sabine's Sunbird talk 03:57, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I see no reason why we can't have it as both a bird & dino FA - it is considered both & besides, it's alos on the dino's by size list we have... Cheers & thanks for your help again Sabine... :) Spawn Man 07:13, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Checking with you...
[edit]Hi Cas. Are you able to see the intelligence and breeding section at the article Common Raven? It seems that my com is not working properly... some parts of the article is not shown on my screen. Luffy487 06:54, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Pissing Off Annoying Creationists
[edit]I guess we could combine the wikiproject birds and dinos as wikiproject dinos (ancient and modern), hee hee hee. cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 07:54, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hey Cas!
- Yes, I think combining the two projects would cheese off some folks, possibly even some WP:Birds editors. There are even ornithologists (isn't Storrs Olsen one?) who still dispute the dinosaur-bird connection. So perhaps it's best for them to stay separate, although the idea brought a huge goofy grin to my face. I am glad to see so much cooperation these days between the groups (Sabine working on Archaeopteryx, the Bird collaboration being based on the Dinosaurs collaboration, etc.)
- In other news, it looks like your RFA is progressing well (not that I'm surprised)... Firsfron of Ronchester 04:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- I know I was being rather facetious but with a grain (well, more than a grain) of truth/seriousness. I thought more would have voted in the RfA somehow but I've stayed in a rather specialised area. Many names I don't know and I wonder where all these people are...cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 04:30, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- The turnout on your RFA is a bit low, I think. Even folks who submitted RFAs after yours are getting more !votes. But as you suggest, it may be because you've mostly kept to a specialized area. My own RFA had quite a few more comments, but at that time it was summer (in the Northern Hemisphere), so people may have had more free time available to comment. There are a couple of current RFAs with massive amounts of supports or opposes, but I think these are probably more high-profile editors. At any rate, it's not the number of !votes that counts, but that consensus has been reached. So far, consensus is unanimous...
- Oh, and, yes, I was aware you were being facetious about combining the projects. :) Firsfron of Ronchester 04:53, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Just saw you've got a web site, Cas. Very cool, especially being able to put a face to a name. Also, the RPG section is pretty neat. Firsfron of Ronchester 21:06, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Gastonia (dinosaur) mount details.
[edit]Howdy, Casliber. You wrote in Gastonia (dinosaur), "It is also the first Polacanthine dinosaur to have been mounted for display." Can you add where/when to the article? Thanks. -- Writtenonsand 11:45, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I have added where but can't confirm when from the article. It suggests 1998 but I cannot be sure. HTH. cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 12:33, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

User:Casliber/Draft
[edit]In case you haven't figured it out yet, now that you've got the delete button, you have the luxury of creating your drafts under separate user space titles e.g. User:Casliber/Armillaria luteobubalina, then moving (i.e. with the move tab rather than copy-paste) finished drafts into article space, and then deleting the redirect from your userspace. This keeps the edit history for the draft intact, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your point of view. Hesperian 12:53, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
