Possible Article Topics

[edit]

One article I am considering researching and editing is one for radio programming. It is the page that explains radio programming via public broadcasting. It is a fairly short article with only one valid reference and it states at the top that the article requires additional citations. It also could use some updating and additional information on radio programming from this decade given how short of an article it is; which, I will be honest and say, seems like a daunting task. I plan to do extensive online research regarding radio programming and researching the information stated in the article to try and locate their original sources in order to improve upon the lack of citations in this article. This is a subject I find interesting and would be excited to find more about as well. This is a fairly basic subject so as for a neutral point of view

After browsing the page that listed articles to be expanded on, I found myself interested in the golden mouse, a species of mouse with an admittedly cool name. The article stated that it requires additional citations which, upon checking the Reference section at the bottom, is certainly true since their is once again only one reference source. Said source leads to a list of threatened species. It is not stated in the article whether or not the golden mouse is a threatened species and that is certainly something I would like to rectify. Given the moderate length of the article and near total lack of citations, I would venture to say that I will be able to find adequate and reliable information on the golden mouse that can be deemed reliable. There is also a very lacking leading section for the golden mouse and no picture of it to be found whatsoever in the article. Additionally, the Talk page is more or less dead as the most recent post was from 2007.

The final article I may or not research and edit was one I found in the section for articles that need to be updated with new information. The List of current Atlantic Records artists page cited that it needs to be updated with new information of artists signed from all over the world as well as additional citations for verification. Additional references are definitely needed as the only reference listed is a link to an article on one specific artist signing with Atlantic Records. I liked this article because it was very different but straightforward in terms of format from the other articles I browsed. Given that updated information is needed, fact checking on the Atlantic Records' websites and making certain of the article's accuracy from signed artists to artists who are jointly signed to different labels is something I intend to do. Additionally, the article links to the List of former Atlantic Records artists which also cites the same problem of lack of references. I would most likely update this page along with the previous page to ensure for accurate information of the two. I also would like to find any other appropriate related articles that might fall in the "See Also" category of either article. Overall, this is a topic that is of great interest to me and one that requires a substantial amount of assistance and editing.

Narrowing It Down

[edit]

After discussing possible article topics with my classmates I would say I am leaning towards researching and editing the golden mouse page. There is a lot of copyediting and verification I can do to strengthen the article and various reliable reference sites that have yet to be included on the Wikipedia page. I plan to insert a picture of the species and will be locating and uploading an image into the Wiki Commons so the image can legally be inserted into the page. The "Diet" page of the mouse is also completely empty and I would like to fix that as well.

However, I would also like to spend time browsing the Category:Stub categories page in case I find anything else of interest that I may want to edit.

Definitely a great option- There is lots of room for improvement on this page. --TA

Final Article Selection

[edit]

After doing some online reference searching,I have decided to choose to edit the golden mouse article. Though not entirely a stub article, there are some substantial portions of said article that certainly can use some improvement; of which are referenced in the previous sections of my Talk page. I see a lot of potential for this article to become a sizable reference guide for the golden mouse. I can't believe I'm going to be researching a rodent (a creature that has always made both my mother and I fairly uncomfortable), but at least it's cute!

Nice work!
