GRLP

[edit]

I took a look at the article, and it really needs some work. There is nothing in the article save the foundation dates that is encyclopedic. It looks like you translated a membership pamphlet, because the article reads like an advertisement, which is against WP policy. Moreover, if the article is about a Grand Lodge, it cannot be about the principles of Freemasonry - not only is that advertising, but that material is already covered in the Freemasonry article - it needs ot be about the Grand Lodge itself and things pertinent to it. If such material cannot be found, then it is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. MSJapan 19:36, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I went through and copyedited the article. There were too many things that were unencyclopedic (such as philosophical discussion), and too many things that were simply too wordy or said nothing in the end. The article is now a stub, but it's a lot more informative. Take a look at some of the other Grand Lodge articles for an idea of what is appropriate for a GL article. I don't read Portuguese, so I can only copyedit English, but I'll give you a hand if you would like. MSJapan 00:03, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The article is looking better, but somebody is going to go after the article for not citing sources. Is there a pamphlet or something that has the information you added? MSJapan 00:59, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"UGLE currently recognises the Regular Grand Lodge of Portugal (Legal), Grande Loja Legal de Portugal (GLRP) and provides a link to this Grand Lodge, (as GLLP) [1] on the UGLE website. [2]" Generic Character 10:23, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to prod the article for deletion. People who are notable only for being heads of groups (Masonic or otherwise) do not meet Wikipedia guidelines for notability. MSJapan 21:19, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment

[edit]

Hi Carlos. You recently joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Freemasonry and added a comment to the participants page. This was removed, so I added it to the appropriate talk space. Cheers, cygnis insignis 07:55, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want your articles kept, read the guidelines and policies for Wikipedia listed on your talk page, not just the Manual of Style for a subsidiary project. Almost every Masonic jurisdiction has a magazine; just because it exists does not make it notable, and leveling threats is not the way to get your articles kept either. Most importantly, if you have the power to stop sending the magazine as you state, then you're involved with it, which violates the conflict of interest policy. Moreover, if you're going to take drastic action because of Wikipedia, that's your own business. I'm sure that when you explain to everyone in your letter that you've stopped sending the magazine because the article on the magazine was deleted from Wikipedia, some things will become clear. MSJapan (talk) 15:45, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, nice to meet you. People can edit their own articles, or those which may have a conflict of interest, but they are encouraged to read the guideline on this. As you can imagine, there is sometimes a problem with COI and special interests. I hope you will continue contributing, the guidelines at the top of this page should help you make improvements. cygnis insignis 09:08, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the message. I would expect that you could restore the article, when you are able to produce the references. Other than that, I do not know what to recommend. Regards, cygnis insignis 13:16, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hi

[edit]

Hi. I found you in categories of users who can contribute in English and Portuguese. I myself am a native speaker of English, but I'm well on my way to learning Portuguese. Just check out my user page and talk page, and join in any of the discussions. To keep updated, you can even put a watch on my user page, which will automatically watch my talk page. :-) learnportuguese (talk) 19:09, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Martiniano Ferreira Botelho

[edit]

An editor has nominated Martiniano Ferreira Botelho, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Martiniano Ferreira Botelho and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 15:59, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transwiki to a more inclusive site

[edit]

Hi Carlos Botelho, As some of your articles are currently under review for deletion on the grounds of non-notability, I wanted to suggest that you consider transferring them to Wikipopuli, a wiki that hosts biographical articles without a notability requirement. Best, TheYellowCabin (talk) 05:32, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for your kind note. I would certainly appreciate any help spreading the word. Any and all are welcome, Portuguese or Australian or what have you! Best, 74.209.22.112 (talk) 18:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

merge

[edit]

I've merged Martiniano Ferreira Botelho into his town, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, as you requested at the Afd. I still have to do his house that became the town museum. DGG (talk) 02:23, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Carlos Botelho! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 35 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. António Roseiro - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Nomination of António Roseiro for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article António Roseiro, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/António Roseiro until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Fences&Windows 17:54, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Margarida Ruas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Epeefleche (talk) 00:33, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Adelino Maltez, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Portuguese and Doctor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
