After you've made the comments, User:Euro Mok replied that "Nope, it's not a blog, it's a "real" website, it doesn't look very professional, but it is one." and I didn't notice your reply to this and the hook was expiring so I proceeded to move it to the next update. But then perhaps it would have been helpful if I waited several hours more. Just in case, you can see his reply here: [1] I have no objection if you'd like to remove the hook from the DYK. --BorgQueen (talk) 22:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Prostitution in Iceland

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Prostitution in Iceland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - -[The Spooky One] | [t c r] 04:19, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've increased it to five, but tomorrow will still be rather unbalanced so I'm going to shorten tomorrow's OTD.--Carabinieri (talk) 19:28, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've re-added all of the hooks to the next update.--Carabinieri (talk) 19:33, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Portal

[edit]

Thanks a lot for taking care of scheduling content for the Germany portal! I am quite busy in real life recently and only active rarely and somewhat randomly (and that probably won't change soon). Great to see that you make sure there's no ugly red links popping up! Kusma (talk) 09:42, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. There were red links on the portal for the first couple of days in May - unfortunately. But then I noticed it. It's too bad you're unable to edit more often, but I certainly don't mind taking over the task of picking the FA and FP of the month for the portal.--Carabinieri (talk) 00:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Xuan Thuy

[edit]

Hi Blnguyen, I take it that you speak Vietnamese (judging from the sources you've used in some of your articles and from your userboxes). I was wondering if you could have a look at the Vietnamese page about Xuan Thuy and tell me whether the image on that page is free, whether it's sourced, etc. I'd like to add it to the English page. Thanks, --Carabinieri (talk) 02:53, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well the image is claimed as free under PD_VNgvot - apparently things from the VN govt website are free. It's from the image page that is linked. The first sentence is a description of his role as foreign minister followed the URL where they got the photo from, which is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. So yes, providing the copyright policy on vi-pedia is the same as here and they haven't broken anything, then yes. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:44, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I've decided to promote this new version, which I've double-checked for NPOV and sources. Vishnava talk 19:31, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had to change the hook as Vishnava's hook wasn't accurate - it's actually the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" whose guitar riff has been adopted by fans. I was however able to use the originally proposed hook instead (about the White Stripes' song being preferred) as someone added a reference from Reuters instead of just a blog. Argentina

[edit]

Hi Carabinieri! I've seen your draft for Anarchism in Argentina, why don't you publish it as it is already? You might want to include infos about Severino Di Giovanni and his propaganda of the deed campaign for Sacco and Vanzetti. I could also include some info on Miguel Arcángel Roscigna, who assaulted a bank along with Andrés Vázques Paredes and Buenaventura Durruti. Roscigna was finally arrested in Uruguay, deported to Argentina, and their bodies thrown in the Rio de la Plata - making him, sadly, the first Argentinian desaparecido. Orphaned non-free media (Image:ShapourBakhtiar.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ShapourBakhtiar.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Cecilia of Sweden.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Cecilia of Sweden.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:55, 22 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jay32183 (talk) 23:55, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked???

[edit]

There goes my spotless record. What happened? [4]    7   talk Δ |   12:23, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The reason is that your former account, User:JCutter, has been abused to send threatening e-mails to administrators, including myself. This is described here and here. When I first received the e-mail, I couldn't find the thread on the incidents' page. I sort of overreacted and banned both the JCutter and the 7 account. Once I read the thread saying that this vandal was only using editor's old accounts, i.e. that you were not to blame for this, I immediately unblocked you. I'm sorry for any inconviences this may have caused you, but I hope that you understand that I was in a situation in which I had no choice but to block your account. If anyone ever challenges because of this block, please tell me about it and I will set the record straight. Happy editing, --Carabinieri (talk) 12:50, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

[edit]

... if I inadvertently trod on your toes at DYK:P1. I was just in the middle of cutting and pasting several bio hooks from an earlier update someone put together with 7 bio hooks in it, and then I noticed someone adding more bio hooks to the page I was trying to move them to! So I put an "inuse" tag on the page to make sure we weren't going to end up with another top-heavy bio hook update. Gatoclass (talk) 14:08, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:ShapourBakhtiar.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:ShapourBakhtiar.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 20:50, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Carabinieri! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 25 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 317 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

A tag has been placed on File:Eurocoplogo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [5], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
