Ways to improve Natasha Bassett

[edit]

Hi, I'm JamesG5. Shelterpr01, thanks for creating Natasha Bassett!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Page it written in promotional speech ("scene stealing debut"). Page has improper inline links to IMDB pages. No actual sources cited. No footnotes. No categories. Page needs a complete re-write.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

JamesG5 (talk) 23:41, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, great job cleaning up the article! Just one note, be careful on tenses/time frames. For instance, "Bassett may currently be seen alongside" should read "as of early 2017 Basset may be seen alongside." You want to avoid anything being overly current-event-ish. Same thing goes for the "will next be seen" line about her upcoming Britney project, that should be adjusted. Hope this helps! JamesG5 (talk) 04:55, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Peter Spears Headshot.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Peter Spears Headshot.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:30, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Shelterpr01. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 22:55, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello Shelterpr01. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Shelterpr01. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Shelterpr01|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:32, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You have violated WP:COI, WP:PAID, WP:PROMO, and WP:SOCK by causing Suriz89 (talk · contribs) and Kakoz0514 (talk · contribs) to edit in violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. This is deeply inappropriate. Any further instances and I'll block you indefinitely. --Yamla (talk) 19:22, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, Wikipedia is a little confusing to understand. I would like to add the paid contribution disclosure on my user page and on Peter Spears talk page before adding a request edit. Would this be the correct way to go about this? Is there any other information I'm missing that should be disclosed? Thank you. CaraTripicchio (talk) 20:53, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You'll also need to address your block evasion: Kakoz0514 (talk · contribs) and Suriz89 (talk · contribs) at least. At this point, you are probably going to have to agree to avoid writing about any subject matter for which you have a conflict of interest. --Yamla (talk) 20:59, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I will have those two accounts deleted. I will not write about any subjects that I have a conflict of interest with and in the future, I will also disclose any conflict of interest with new subjects should there be a need. Would that also mean that I can not request any edits on their talk pages? I'm just trying to understand how this all works. CaraTripicchio (talk) 21:06, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm willing to unblock you so long as you are willing to declare your conflict of interest, refrain from any further abuse of multiple accounts, and agree to refrain from writing about or requesting edits about any subject for which you have a conflict of interest. This would include, but not be limited to, suggesting edits on the article talk pages, given your history so far. --Yamla (talk) 21:16, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I will declare all conflict of interests and not ask others to create accounts on my behalf. You are welcome to delete the two accounts yourself if you like. However, if I'm unable to even "suggest" any edits, how will I accomplish what my client is asking? I do apologize for the history of my account, I truly don't know how Wikipedia works. This has all been a trail and error for me. CaraTripicchio (talk) 21:26, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You won't. You repeatedly violated our terms of use and policies (WP:COI, WP:PAID, WP:PROMO, WP:SOCK, WP:BLOCK), and so I think it'd be inappropriate for you to engage in any further paid editing until you can demonstrate, over a prolonged period of time and across several hundred appropriate edits, that you can abide by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If that means you can't make money off of Wikipedia, I'm afraid that's your problem and not ours. You already had a second chance and went out of your way to violate the terms of your unblock, so this is all the good faith we are willing to extend you at this time. --Yamla (talk) 21:34, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You are, by the way, welcome to have another independent administrator consider your case for unblocking. Just place an unblock request here. Maybe someone else will feel differently. --Yamla (talk) 21:36, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

original unblock reason

Accept reason:

I have lifted your block on that basis. Yamla (talk) 22:15, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request an unblock JUST so I can add my conflict of interest disclosure to my user page. I won't be making or suggesting any other edits for a prolonged period of time. CaraTripicchio (talk) 22:05, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the unblock. I tried to add the conflict of interest disclosure but it is not allowing me to add anything to the user page. CaraTripicchio (talk) 22:22, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There's no reason I can see why it would stop you, except possibly that one of your other accounts has triggered a block on this one for 24 hours. If so, you should be notified of that when you try to edit. If you wish to post your COI notice here, I'd be happy to immediately move it for you, to your user page. --Yamla (talk) 22:27, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me know if any of the below is in incorrect format. Thank you. CaraTripicchio (talk) 22:32, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Moved. I'll note this is not the only conflict of interest you have, but it's the only one you've been violating this year. --Yamla (talk) 22:34, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Tobi lou

[edit]

Hello, CaraTripicchio. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Tobi lou".

On the one hand, the sources in the article are six years old or so, but a scan of the sources in Charlie Covell show she/her pronouns. What's your source for changing the article to use they/them? —C.Fred (talk) 21:20, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Very recent article on Netflix's official site in which they are writing a series for:
https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/kaos-plot-release-date-news
Perrineau’s on-screen husband is still impressed by the world Covell created. “Charlie came up with all these incredible details that were going over the heads of us mere mortals,” Scott tells Tudum. “Charlie’s achievement with this is a celebration, really. They’ve distilled a huge wealth of material while reimagining it and giving it a lot of modern touches.”
The show is set in “our world, but it’s kind of kinked, and it’s different,” they explain. So KAOSdeserved an equally tilted take on a word we’re all familiar with. CaraTripicchio (talk) 15:07, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So it's only a second-hand source, somebody else referring to Covell? —C.Fred (talk) 17:49, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the slam-dunk quote, in the author's own voice, based on interview material with Covell: "Covell was 'obsessed' with Greek mythology from an early age. As a child, they watched..." —C.Fred (talk) 17:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There it is! Thank you. CaraTripicchio (talk) 18:08, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
