License tagging for Image:00020m.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:00020m.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:04, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:N poly12056.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:N poly12056.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image tagging for Image:Dazed.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dazed.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:SolangeWilvert vogue.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SolangeWilvert vogue.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen 14:34, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note that per wp:fair use, a magazine cover is not fair use just to show what someone looks like.

The same goes for image:solange wilvert.jpg, image:dariawerbowy.jpg, image:anouck lepere.jpg, image:anjarubik.jpg, image:karenelson.jpg, image:lilydonaldson.jpg, image:Numer72SnejanaOPHGregKadel.jpg, Image:Numero angela lindvall.jpg, Image:Tanyadziahileva.jpg, image:coco rocha.jpg, Image:Susan Eldridgecover.jpg, Image:Susan Eldridgecover.jpg, Image:Mariacarla flair it sep06 01.jpg, Image:9940gd8.jpg, Image:IngunaButane Stiletto issue6 AWard 1.jpg, and Image:062~0.jpg.

Magazine covers

[edit]

Hi, Captncrunchy. Please understand that, per item #7 of Wikipedia:Fair use#Counterexamples, we don't use magazine cover to illustrate articles about the person depicted on the cover. Although it may be legal to do, it's against Wikipedia's policy. For article on living people, a freely licensed image should be found or created. I understand you have uploaded the following images in a good faith attempt to help Wikipedia, but as our policy disallow their use, they're going to be deleted. I hope you understand.

Best regards, --Abu badali (talk) 16:03, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
