Welcome

[edit]

Hello, CandaceHansen and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Chris Troutman (talk) 19:36, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What are you doing?

[edit]

I've been watching your edits on your sandbox. I'm not sure why you're adding content and then deleting it. I'm assuming you intend to write a new article about Jessie de la Cruz. You haven't identified what you will be writing about on the course page, so what's the plan? Chris Troutman (talk) 02:03, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris,
I've been making small edits and learning how to build text boxes and links to other articles. I've also been deleting and re adding the construction part so I can see how the actual things look and to make sure that they work. I was told to keep the constuction up so that other people wouldn't think that it was complete until the date that I'm supposed to turn it in.
I've completed the article, just working on making it as good as possible. I also typed in there that I am doing an article on Jessie De La Cruz, I'm not sure why it hasn't stayed.I just corrected that on the class page.
I have taken the wiki training also, thanks for the initial heads up on that.
Candace
I assume there was a misunderstanding. Within your sandbox, you're the only one editing there. Unless you submit your draft to AfC, no one else is even going to look at it. I don't know what your professor assumes about your progress, but as a Wikipedian I'd assess that you're not "done" until it's moved into the main namespace. Your article is going to be created from your sandbox. (If you were editing an existing article it would be different.) It's not getting moved until you tell me you're ready or you move it yourself. Even then, Wikipedia is always a work in progress. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:41, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with my page (Jessie Lopez De La Cruz)

[edit]

Hi Chris,

I noticed that you checked out my wikipedia contribution. Thank you for taking the time to do that!

My previous question can be disregarded because I figured it out. Thank you for your time. CandaceHansen (talk) 19:46, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) I've seen you've since fixed it. Let me say you wrote a longer article than I expected. It still needs work but you ought to consider submitting a hook from this article to the Did You Know? WikiProject. I can help if you need it. Participation at DYK could get your article between 1000 and 5000 views. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:06, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome, thank you. I also fixed the external links. It appeared as if I had submitted a ridiculous amount of them because I was incorrectly formatting them. All of those issues are fixed, and I have linked them to the appropriate Wikipedia links.

Thank you so much, after finals I would love to submit it to that project. Your help would be great.

Thank you again for everything this month.

RnR Camp for Girls

[edit]

Information icon Hello, CandaceHansen. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Rock and Roll Camp for Girls‎‎, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.—EncMstr (talk) 04:51, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi EncMstr,

Thanks for reaching out. I will take your advice, and double check anything I have added to make sure that there is a neutral point of view. Hope you are well. CandaceHansen (talk) 05:01, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
