Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Camomilelawn. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Suzannah Lipscomb, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.
I notice that all your edits are connected with Suzannah Lipscomb. If you are she, or are an employee, friend, family member, etc, then you should not edit her page directly but should make suggestions at Talk:Suzannah Lipscomb, with sources. If you are employed by her or her agent, or otherwise editing for pay, then you must declare this whenever you edit any article about her. Thanks. PamD 00:09, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
Linking to Wikipedia articles
[edit]Thank you for your edits to Women's Prize for Non-Fiction, but please note that the way to link to a Wikipedia article about someone (or something) is to add square brackets to make a link, not to use the Wikipedia page as a reference. I've mended the page, and upgraded your "Bare URL" references. Thanks. PamD 00:11, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
And please watch out for "autocorrect" mistakes, and always check your edits: you left it saying "The first longest for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction", where I think you intended "longlist". I've fixed it. PamD 00:13, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
Copyright
[edit]Do not copy text directly from anywhere without acknowledging it, as you did on Women's Prize for Non-Fiction. The page about the prize states, clearly, "© 2023 Women's Prize for Fiction". It's too late at night for me to start paraphrasing stuff now, so I've just made it quite clear that it's a quote. But please pay more attention to the basic rules of copyright and plagiarism: what you write in Wikipedia must be your own work. Thanks. PamD 00:24, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
