Dr. Hyde's Feedback
[edit]You’re getting a good start here. The parts you plan to add will be important additions to the piece. The key task now is laying in citations that are newer and fuller. So pull some new books out of the OU Library, using their indexes to look up people and the battles of the Texas Revolution.
1) Lay out the structure of your article or the new chunks of an old article with an Introduction and titles for the parts you want to add or rewrite
Laying the earlier history of how the Revolution unfolds and attitudes about Texas and Mexico makes sense. You can link to other Wikipedia articles for some of that. The parts about what actually happened are easier to update, but you can get stuck in too much detail there.
2) Added new, high-quality sources (books, articles, authoritative websites)
You have some good specific articles about this Red Rover group. As you add citations to the paragraphs here, you probably want to use some of the classic books about the Texas Revolution to give people full background on what happened. So here is a classic older one: Binkley, William C. The Texas Revolution. Baton Rouge: Louisiana State University Press, 1952 (on shelves at OU) AND a collection of much newer work: Haynes, Sam W, ed. Contested Empire. College Station: Texas A&M University Press, 2015. ONLINE AT OU
3)Written 50-60% of what you hope to add
A little thin but, I can see where you are going and that parts you hope to fill in. At some point, you might have to decide to focus on finishing several sections rather than working on fixing the whole article. You can leave some work other people to do later.
4) Thinking about linking as opposed to creating too much background
Here is where you might need to consider how much background people can get from other Wikipedia articles about other battles, Texas adventurers, and early Texas History.
5) Started to clean up a few paragraphs
You can decide whether you want to do this on the mainspace or in your sandbox, but the clean up and fixing spelling and writing errors takes a while. Another next step is adding some maps and images.
