Important notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hi ToBeFree - I added information to the page on 4/24, and it was removed on 4/28 because it required more sources. I added in more sources on 7/2 which were promptly removed by an unidentified user on 7/6. I added them back on 7/7 because I thought was an error, then an unidentified user removed them on 7/7 citing harassment. I added them back on 7/7 because they are from trusted news sources, including a quotation by Stanley himself to Yale Daily News. I have since not edited the page. Unidentified users seem to want/not want this information on his page, despite a direct quotation from a trusted source by Stanley himself as to the importance of his Twitter account. It looks as if several other editors, unidentified and identified, are taking this up and going back and forth with each other, for which I have and want no part. But the claim of harassment made by the unidentified users is unjustified. Cacatcat10 (talk) 17:38, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's understandable. No worries about the efforts for providing verifiable content with citations. Please note though that combining sources into something neither source said is a form of (prohibited) original research on Wikipedia. Also, Wikipedia articles should be based mostly on secondary sources, not primary sources like Twitter posts. It is thus reasonable to keep the material removed if it is based only on original research and primary self-published sources.
Regarding harassment claims, I haven't been investigating these, and my messages are unrelated to such claims.
You may like to discuss the content on the article's talk page, Talk:Jason Stanley, simply by clicking "New section" there and providing reasons for re-adding the content. However, if I see correctly, it does seem to be incompatible with policies as described above. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:51, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi ToBeFree - Thanks for your response. I certainly don't want to get into an edit war. I am still pretty new to this, so I may try the talk page when if I have time. Cacatcat10 (talk) 17:54, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
😊 No problem. Feel free to remove the red warning above (or any message you like to); it was only for your information and is not meant to be a permanent wall of shame. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:05, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hah! Thanks. I don't know how to remove it. I will look into it. Still figuring all of this stuff out. Thanks for your kind messages. Cacatcat10 (talk) 18:07, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:The Daniels House requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://thingstodoinsalem.com/index.php/2022/06/27/the-daniels-house-salem-ma-a-review/ and https://www.danielshousesalem.com/about. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
