My edit to White Hill

That was actually an accident. I was trying to revert vandalism off the page and User:DerHexer was a second ahead of me, so instead of reverting the vandalism I accidentally reverted User:DerHexer edit. There has been no activity from this user for a couple of days now. S/he may have left. I have posted a message on her/his talk page to encourage her/him to participate in a productive way. We must keep in mind WP:BITE. While this user has been very agressive, he/she can't be expected to know all ofhte rules of Wikipedia right from the beginning. Breton shares a common history with Irish. There you are, I made a connection to User:Schcambo. Seriously, can something be done against this guy? It's actually the Template:US county navigation box, but it works perfectly except for linking to Wicklow, Ireland; nothing a redirect couldn't solve! I might have a go at creating an Irish-only one, although I've never tried creating templates before :S Schcambo (talk) 13:50, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Woa! Halt!

I see you moved Blackrock and Shankill to "County Dublin". Convention is that suburbs of Dublin within the old County are called simply Xtown, Dublin if a dab is required. This is to prevent "address warring" and "post code envy" etcetera plus County Dublin is now anachronistic. Sarah777 (talk) 14:20, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Counties of Ireland

Actually, officially all Irish counties are in the form "County of X" (not that that is an invitation to rename them see WP:RENAME) - but it is already clear in Fingal and South Dublin that "County of X" is used in the articles rather than "X County" or "County X". No, see here; their official names are simply the counties' names on their own. The normal Irish convention is to write 'County X'. Obviously, with FG, DLR, and SD, that can't be done, so then the next most obvious form is 'X County', not 'County of X'. This also applies in other areas: we don't write Cathedral of Cobh, we write Cobh Cathedral. And actually, if you look here for example, most pages are already linking to either DLR or DLR County. Do a search of http://irishstatutebook.ie and see which form is most used with "County" for those in Dublin - "County of X". I would of been happy with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin but it was *you* who started the moving and I did was put it right!

The form "X County" is only used for sub-entities of counties i.e. "X County Council", "X County Hall", "X County Library" etc, etc, etc and never for the county itself. It is often a good idea to seek consensus on the respective talk page first. Regards. Djegan (talk) 16:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE DIVISION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE COUNTY OF DUBLIN INTO THREE ADMINISTRATIVE COUNTIES TO BE KNOWN AS THE COUNTY OF SOUTH DUBLIN, THE COUNTY OF FINGAL AND THE COUNTY OF DUN LAOGHAIRE-RATHDOWN, FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COUNCIL FOR EACH OF THOSE COUNTIES, TO AMEND THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (DUBLIN) ACTS, 1930 TO 1991, AND TO PROVIDE FOR MATTERS RELATED TO THE MATTERS AFORESAID.
