Hello CSugwiz. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Mustafa Jalali, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:CSugwiz. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=CSugwiz|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Wikishovel (talk) 14:07, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hello, i am not being paid to do this. i am just trying to create a profile for someone that had a major role and impact in our region. this is my entry point into the wiki world as i would like to contribute as much as possible by shining a light on personals that had an impact on the middle east. as it is my first page i understand that there may be mistakes but i assure you i do not know the person i am writing about and i have edited the page several times to have a neutral tone and focus on notability CSugwiz (talk) 14:15, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
if you could please review my final edit. again, i apologize if the article gave the impression that i have a personal gain to this since it is not the case. CSugwiz (talk) 15:58, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Could you please explain, since you have no connection with Mr Jalali, how you know his precise time of birth? Wikishovel (talk) 16:26, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The birth time information was provided by Mr. Hussain Al Yafai, CEO of Standard Chartered Oman. He has followed Mr. Jalali’s history since their time together in Houston and wishes to officially document it. https://www.linkedin.com/in/hussain-al-yafai-8b515615a?utm_source=share&utm_campaign=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=ios_app CSugwiz (talk) 17:00, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That explains how you could know without a personal connection. That would not be considered a reliable source for Wikipedia purposes, though. (See Wikipedia:Reliable sources.) signed, Willondon (talk) 17:07, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yes i understand and i have since removed it from the article CSugwiz (talk) 17:10, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of other sources would not pass muster, either: Acon Travels and Tours, and Apollo Shipping and Forwarding. These are commercial concerns, which generally make statements without a tradition of fact-checking or a primary interest in verity. I can't evaluate the Arabic sources, but going forward, you should look for sources such as newspapers, trade magazines, etc. that have earned a reputation for making accuracy a priority. Best of luck with your project. signed, Willondon (talk) 17:21, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
noted with thanks - we can remove any sources that feel "commercial" and keep sources that are regarded as factual within Wikipedia's standard CSugwiz (talk) 17:34, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
