Canadian Bible Society (deletion)

[edit]

Hi there. I'm trying to create a page for the Canadian Bible Society. I'm a representative incharge of creating a wiki page for CBS. The first article I posted is the "official" statement from CBS which would be an accurate statement about what we do. However, it seems that there is a copyright issue using this making the page a candidate for immediate deletion. Is it possible to have this page reinstated? I will have to rewrite the page to suit the wikipedia policy if it's necessary. Thanks! CBSWiki09 (talk) 20:54, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NawlinWiki doesn't seem to be online right now, so perhaps I can help you. Creating an article about something that you are closely involved in may give you a conflict of interest and possibly go against Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. Also saying that you posted the "official statement about what we do" makes me think that you should read WP:SPAM as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a host for advertisements. It would probably be best to let another create this article.
    • I agree with T'shael. Also, any article about the society would have to show that the group is notable per the standards of WP:ORG, and would have to support that claim with reliable independent sources per WP:V (the group's own website is not an *independent* source. ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!
