Tagging an edit as "minor"

[edit]

Just a heads up... I've noticed you did some edits to the article "Client state" recently. I don't have any objections to your edits, but they were not minor and hence should not have been tagged as minor. A minor edit is usually only something that doesn't change the meaning of a section of text significantly or at all, and can often include things such as fixing grammar/spelling mistakes or repairing a citation. On the other hand, adding hyperlinks and rearranging the phrasing of certain sentences are not considered to be minor edits. So, you should not tag them as such. Hi, thank you for your informative message…. I did happen to check the info link on “minor edits” *after* publishing those edits, and realized my error, so from now on I will be aware of what is and is not a “minor edit,” and tag accordingly. October 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hi C. L. Marquette! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Holy Roman Empire that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Remsense ‥  16:33, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
