Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Acupuncture. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. SkepticalRaptor (talk) 19:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome. Your addition to Paper doll has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to visit me at my talk page. Thank you. Siawase (talk) 14:51, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Citation Barnstar
Congratulations, BuzyBody, you've recently made your 1,000th edit to articles on English Wikipedia!

Thank you for finding sources for so many articles on common household items, and for all your contributions to the encyclopedia. Keep up the great work! Maryana (WMF) (talk) 20:10, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Sourcing

I noticed you have been adding tons of cites to articles and I applaud you for it, however About.com is considered a self published source that has basically no editorial over-site at all and therefore use of it as a source should be avoided. Also when adding information to music genre articles please try to discuss any changes or additions on the talk pages of the article. These articles are a magnet for synthesis and original research. Ridernyc (talk) 00:27, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

You might want to slow down

Welcome. I see you've made many edits in a well-meaning effort to provide citations & references. Some of these are helpful, but some are either using unreliable sources, or are making the articles more cluttered to no real advantage (the Etymology edits, e.g.). So please slow down and maybe read the links in the Welcome message above. As it is now, many of your edits are requiring other editors to clean up. Also, please use informative edit summaries, and, if you can, try to make simple edits in one pass - there's a "preview" button for that purpose. Happy editing. - Special-T (talk) 14:12, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello. Just a quick note to let you know I removed the refs you added to the lede. There is no reason to link to dictionary entries unless a word's definition is in dispute, and even then it probably wouldn't belong in the lede. WP:CITE has detailed info on how and when to add citations. Rivertorch (talk) 19:03, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Just to note that I have also removed cites you have added to other articles. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a dictionary, so there is no need to cite words with links to their definitions and/or their etymology. Generally speaking it is also only worth mentioning the etymology if it explains something of the subject, not the word. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:18, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Please stop copying and pasting copyrighted, non-free text from other websites. You can rewrite it in your own words with the same facts, but you can't copy and paste whole paragraphs. --Pmsyyz (talk) 07:31, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Could you please go back over your recent edits and either remove, or substantially reword, the copyrighted content that you lifted from the Texas State Historical Association website, among others. Otherwise someone else will have to remove them, and they'll probably bother working around the other content you've added. The Texas State Historical Association is an excellent source to cite, but as Pmsyyz above notes, you cannot simply copy their text into Wikipedia. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:24, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I see that you have been reminded of this already, only a couple of weeks ago. Please better acquaint yourself with Wikipedia policy on others' copyright. Observing this is not optional. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:32, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

BuzyBody Please Reply

Hello BuzyBody, It appears that you have been making some good edits and some not so good edits. I would like to help you out, but it appears that you have not responded to any comments on your comment page. If you read these, please respond here. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 06:43, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I second this, and re-iterate my message above - your edits are requiring a prodigious amount of "cleanup" work by other editors. - Special-T (talk) 13:53, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
I would have responded earlier but the first time I tried to reply to an editor I had a very bad experience as they were pretty ugly so I am reluctant to talk.BuzyBody (talk) June 2012 (UTC)
I am sorry to hear that. It is unfortunate that new editors get turned off by mean people like that. I would like to help you get to know some of our Guidelines around here. And your comment page is the way we get things done around here. As long as you promise to interact here, I promise to be nice. My name is Dkrigls and I am part of the welcoming committee. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 14:49, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

City and town websites

Recently you have done a great job at finding websites for towns. This is much needed work and I applaud you for it. Unfortunately, you have been placing them in the wrong place and I have had to go fix all your edits. I would like to show you where the website already has a nice little home on town pages. It's called the infobox. This box lists all the facts about a town. Right at the bottom of the info box is a line to put the website. We do not put any website addresses in the actual body of a Wikipedia article. From your most recent edits, it's appears to me that you may have noticed that some towns already have a website listed here, and then you delete your sentence about the towns website. If you have any question about how to use the infobox, feel free to ask me. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 14:58, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

  • First thank you for the cookies!!!
  • I do have a few questions. I understand about the website for the city going in the info box and will review my recent edits to correct. Thank you...
  • If I want to list the school system's website where would I put that information?
  • Also I cannot figure out how to signature/tie stamp this page? Please expaln the steps.
  • And thank you for being so nice. It is very much appreciated...

(User talk:BuzyBody) June 2012 (UTC)

School websites are only used as a reference. I see that you have figured out how to make references and should continue doing that for all school listings. Although it seems nice to have a link to the school's website right in the article, these lists of links are hard to manage for bigger towns. Schools are also notorious for changing their web address, so Wikipedia gets left with a lot of dead links in the middle of articles. There is an External links section that you could create, but I would recommend against this. The guidelines specifically say that you should not place educational links here.
As for your signature:
  1. At the end of your comments simply type four tildes (~), like this: ~~~~.
  2. Or if you are using the edit toolbar option (it usually appears above the edit screen as a default),[1] click the signature icon: or , to add the four tildes.
Feel free to ask me any other questions, now or in the future --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 15:31, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Creating a new Education section

Hi BuzyBody. Your recent edits look great. The only thing is the placement of new "Education" sections. They go much lower on the city page than you have been placing them. Check out WP:USCITY for the layout of city sections. Otherwise, awesome work! --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 07:01, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for all your help. I corrected my last edits to reflect the proper placement of “Education”. If you find I missed

any please let me know & I will correct. When I see subjects such as “General Information” under Lyman, Maine – should I remove that information if I am certain it is already provided? In this instance, both the zip code and area code are in the info box already. If I would remove that information, would I list the local phone code in the info box? Thanks again.--BuzyBody (talk) 00:50, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Ya, info like that should stay within the info box, and not end up in the articles body text. I removed it from Lyman, Maine. But if you see anything that doesn't fit WP:USCITY feel free to challenge it.
Also, there is no reason to add a blank Education section. Sections from WP:USCITY should only be added if you have some info to put in them. I went through and removed the blank sections you added in the last few days. Cheers --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 03:00, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Please do not remove "invalid" (i.e., red) links from pages. Redlinks are good in that they encourage article creation. Please read WP:REDLINK. Thanks. :) - The Bushranger One ping only 00:32, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, I did not realize this.--BuzyBody (talk) 00:35, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
That's OK, but you need to be more careful. - I've reverted your edits to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim page, as you are badly breaking links. Santa Clara Broncos baseball has no relation to Santa Clara Angels, and other link 'fixes' that you performed completely changed the context and meaning of sentences. Redlinks are not bad and should not be removed, especially when their replacements are erronious. Just take a deep breath and be more careful, ok? - The Bushranger One ping only 00:36, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, not all red links are good either. But Wikipedia:Be bold does need to be balanced with careful edits. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 04:37, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Hey BuzyBody!

Hey man! I want to thank you for coming by and helping out the Braselton, Georgia page. I've been working on it for 2 years and i'd like to thank you for helping me out with the section re-edits :). I was wondering if you could also put the Town's logo on the page aswell, i've never been able to do it >.<. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:AA61:5919:C113:3C29:44F1:314 (talk) 03:47, 6 July 2012 (UTC) ~ Greenguy2492

Hi! I am so glad you like the changes I made to the Braselton, Georgia page. Unfortunately I do not know how to add the Town's logo to the page, but I will try to figure it out. I will let you know if do. Thanks! --BuzyBody (talk) 00:12, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation pages

Please stop adding entries to disambiguation pages that don't contain any links to articles. A disambiguation page is not a generic word list, it is a navigation aid that helps in cases where there are articles on multiple things that could be referred to by the same name. Every entry on a dab page must have one (and only one) working link.

You should read Wikipedia:Disambiguation and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages before making any more edits to disambiguation pages.--Srleffler (talk) 03:46, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for explaining this to me. I have reviewed the disambiguation pages you referenced. Thanks again.--BuzyBody (talk) 21:25, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Etymology

Most articles do not require an etymology section. Wikipedia is not a dictionary. The topic of a Wikipedia article is a thing, not the name by which that thing is known; in general etymology is off-topic. For example, the topic of the article Meadow is fields covered with grass, not the word Meadow. The origin of the English word that is used to describe fields covered with grass is not relevant to the topic of the article. Readers looking for etymology should consult a dictionary.--Srleffler (talk) 03:53, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

I noticed that you added a reference using Template:cite web. The accessdate= parameter has the format yyyy-mm-da. The way you have used it in Medill's article and elsewhere makes it appear you have joined us from the future. Check out Template:cite web for details on how to use it.
Roseohioresident (talk) 18:09, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing this out. I did not realize my access date looked so funny. I reviewed the Template:cite web, and corrected the articles I had recently worked on, including William Medill's article. I will definitely use the correct access date parameter moving forward. Thanks again! --BuzyBody (talk) 18:13, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Brielle, New Jersey

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to Brielle, New Jersey, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept unsourced material or original research. This includes material lacking cited sources, or obtained through personal knowledge or unpublished synthesis of previously published material. Wikipedia requires that all material added to articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here.

Also, I don't think city mottos are written in all-caps.

If you have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 23:40, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Yes, please. Readers should know where information comes from, including town mottos. Its full-capitalization on the town website is just a question of style on their part. Thanks again. Nightscream (talk) 23:51, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

I made the changes as we discussed. Thank you so much for your help.--BuzyBody (talk) 23:55, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Ways to improve Dyersburg State Gazette

Thanks for creating Dyersburg State Gazette, BuzyBody!

Wikipedia editor BarkingFish has tagged the page as having some issues to fix. In addition, they wrote this note for you:

You need to use additional sources on this article - the references are ok, but shouldn't all be from the same publication you're writing about :) Try to find some others.

The tags on the page can be removed by you or another editor when the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on BarkingFish's talk page.

Thank you for your assistance. I added additional sources for the article from various publications. Thank you.--BuzyBody (talk) 21:41, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome, BuzyBody - as the note above says, if you need anymore help, feel free to contact me on my talk page - I'm around most of the time on here :) FishBarking? 01:14, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
