From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello, Butler22, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! —Travistalk 22:29, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Latch Key Kid has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you create an inappropriate page, such as Latch Key Kid, you will be blocked from editing. Are you listening? STOP posting this PR release. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:10, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

To whom it may concern: I am new to Wikipedia. I have been trying to write a biography for myself and it keeps getting removed. I am not trying to post an advertisement, I am simply trying to make a Wikipedia page for myself. Once I understand everything and get the hang of this I am sure there won't be anymore problems. I wanted to know if you can remove my blocked status so that I can fix my page accordingly. Thanks, Martin username: butler22

Decline reason:

Blanchardb has been kind enough to do most of my job for me by providing you with a great deal of helpful information and links. During the remainder of your block, you should take some time to familiarize yourself with the rules, policies, and guidelines below so that you'll have a better understanding of what is expected of Wikipedia editors. I have also provided some useful information above. —Travistalk 22:30, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 22:16, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
