[edit]You were the first WP editor that I met... in May of 2008. You responded to a (("help me")) request and then sent me on my way into WikiWorld. Thank you for that. Since that time editing Wikipedia has become a part of my daily life. I see that you like to create articles for musicians. I wonder if I could ask you to take some time and take a look at User:Buster7/sandbox-Zachary Rapp-Rovan and assist me in creating a quality article. It has been years since I created any biographical articles and those, in no way, required the dexterity of creating an article about a professional musician. Rapp-Rovan is also a graffiti artist which is how I became aware of him through a gallery showing of his artwork last year in Chicago. An article that presents the duality of his creativity is my goal. Any time or collaboration or advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. [edit]Finally giving my feedback. My main observation is that all the sources are about Zeds Dead and not Rapp-Rovan solo. Could you try searching for sources that discuss Rapp-Rovan extensively independent of Zeds Dead? Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 14:57, 8 February 2024
- Yes. I will do that. I have noticed that in most of the interviews about the duo, Rapp-Rovan does most of the talking ...but I get the idea and will pursue that. Thanks Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 22:04, 8 February 2024
Source for Birthday
[edit]I tried famousbirthdays.com but that was not acceptable as a source. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 04:18, 14 February 2024

[edit]You just edited the article on Hamid Drake which is on my watchlist. Thank you for that. Hamid and I were roommates many years ago. Since that time editing Wikipedia has become a part of my daily life. I see that you are a proficient creator of articles about music and musicians. - Hello! I'll be glad to have a look at your article but am certainly not an expert. Please give me some time to study it; I can only hope that I'll have something worthwhile to offer.
- There are so many amazing musicians who are barely mentioned in WP... it could take several lifetimes to fill in all the gaps imho!
- Have you kept in touch with Hamid?
- Take care,

- The last time we met was a few years back at one of his Winter Solstice Concerts in Chicago. I wish I could report that we kept in touch and that we shared postcards but... I am sure we are still good friends of forty years. Your "ask" will goad me into reaching out to him. Thanks for that. And thanks for taking a look at my Rapp-Rovan sandbox whenever you can. I feel I have just gathered a bunch of information and jumbled it all together. I don't quite know how to arrange it. Take all the time you need. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 05:12, 13 February 2024
- Hi. I looked back at some of my own pitiful, feeble work on biographical pages for musicians, such as Jacques Coursil, which I wrote from scratch, and Milford Graves, Marilyn Crispell, and Gary Peacock, all of which I expanded and restructured. My tendency has been to start with a short intro/lede paragraph, then present things chronologically, with careful attention to sourcing. (In many cases, every sentence has a footnote (ugh).) But I started in a way that's similar to what you have, gathering a lot of information in a kind of pile, then shaping it. So my inclination would be to do a chronological overview, then go into detail after that re. the different aspects of his artistic output.
- For an opening lede, I would write something like this:
- The last time we met was a few years back at one of his Winter Solstice Concerts in Chicago. I wish I could report that we kept in touch and that we shared postcards but... I am sure we are still good friends of forty years. Your "ask" will goad me into reaching out to him. Thanks for that. And thanks for taking a look at my Rapp-Rovan sandbox whenever you can. - Zachary Rapp-Ronan is a DJ, musician, record producer and visual artist born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on July 25, 1988.<source> Along with Dylan DC (Dusty Crates) Mamid, he is one half of the eclectic electronic music duo Zeds Dead, described as "one of the most successful electronic acts to emerge from Canada in recent years."<source>
- Then you can rework the material that I pulled out of your version of the lede into the biography.
- One question: how much of this belongs in the Zeds Dead page, and how much in the Zachary Rapp-Rovan page?
- I'll keep looking at it, but those are my thoughts for now. I hope they make sense, and that reading them is not a waste of your time!
- Best,
- Helen Puffer Thwait (talk) 19:30, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Looks great. Makes great sense. I will take your suggestion to the sandbox and add sources as you suggest. Don't worry about wasting my time. Collaborating with another editor to create an article has always been a joyful pastime. I haven't had the opportunity or the inclination in quite awhile. I just hope I dont waste your time. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 23:01, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- I've made a bunch of changes; moving "stuff" around. Everything is in flux. Feel free to also move stuff. I suggest we converse on the sandbox talk page so there is a history of our efforts when the time comes to move the article to mainspace. Have fun. - Hi. I'm being pulled in many directions this month, so am not sure how much time I can dedicate to it. But I'll do what I can!
- Take care,

- You have already moved it forward. I appreciate whatever you find time for. Take care. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 14:22, 14 February 2024
Possible Image for article????
[edit][1] clearly shows Hooks at work in 2014 with the descriptive caption::: Zeds Dead's Zach Rapp-Rovan, or Hooks, and his friend Charlie Gray paint a graffiti mural outside The Larimer Lounge on Wednesday, July 02, 2014 in Denver, CO. I realize there may be prevailing reasons against using the exact image in the article, but the caption seems to verify his reputation in the genre since 2014. - There's really not sufficient evidence yet that he's notable independently of the band. But there's no rush. Wikishovel (talk) 21:10, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
"this time off of touring....."
[edit]The last quote in the graffiti thread mentions taking time off. It was due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Should that be mentioned???. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 20:56, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- That sounds more relevant to the band article. Wikishovel (talk) 21:12, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- I remember reading somewhere in my research of him that the pandemic gave him free time (since the band was not travelling or performing} and he got the inclination to put his graffiti ideas onto canvas rather than just bar room walls. I'll try to find the interview which happened recently (post-pandemic). Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 06:01, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Here it is [2]
.....Hooks found time to explore new modems of artistry. In addition to dropping an EP of remixes earlier in 2021, Hooks became a painter. In October, he hosted a gallery featuring all his abstract, dope art, the culmination of a year’s worth of ideas. When commenting on this recent artistic endeavor, Hooks explained its catharsis. “In 2020 I, like many, found myself with no shows to revolve my life around like… endless time at home so I started painting a lot. I would joke that it was a mid-life crisis… having the goal of creating a gallery show and every day working towards that helped give me some structure during those uncertain times.”
- We don't need to add it to the article. I just bring it here, to the talk page, to solidify that Rapp-Rovan deserves a BIO article independent from Zeds Dead. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 06:38, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
