Vandal reporting
[edit]Hi there; the place to report persistent vandalism is WP:AIV. Making an article is unlikely to achieve a result.--Anthony.bradbury 16:47, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oddly, I tried to use Wikipedia:Abuse reports and it dumped the report on a new page. I lost track of it after that. Burzmali 18:43, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia is Not Personal
[edit]Burzmali: When you are suggesting editing a page, it is not your job to diagnose a person's character or to try to paint them as a racist or as an ill-doer. If you have facts to be presented, or if you dispute facts on the page, list them clearly with documented sources. It is irresponsible and it discredits your writings when you launch personal attacks against both users and a person being documented. If you are going to continue editing, detach your personal feelings and beliefs and keep it professional or take it to a messageboard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.180.38.20 (talk) 13:07, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Umm, WP:AGF? I haven't added anything to the article. Considering the red flags surrounding Paul, if we don't discuss the topic on the talk page, editors are more likely to directly edit the article include their own opinions without working towards a consensus. Burzmali (talk) 14:32, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Is this to say that everyone has to agree on every change? You clearly have an agenda here. Attempts have been legitimately made to remove the questionable and biased material, and you will never "agree" or be part of a "consensus" to remove it. A post on McCain or Obama's page about all the controversy surrounding them would not hold for 2 seconds, yet you are arguing that everyone has to agree not to put trash on a page? The letters were not written by Ron Paul, the controversy is based on speculation and you have already made up your mind on the topic. Do not call for a "consensus" when discussing opinions and theoretical situations, wikipedia is for facts and not for your personal smear campaign. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.180.38.20 (talk) 16:15, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

RE: User:Anweshock
[edit]Hello, I was wondering if there there is an official way to report userpages that are created to dodge a notability tag in the main article space. I have been flipping through the untagged images and I have noticed a lot like that. Any thoughts? Burzmali 17:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Generally speaking, it is possible to have a bio for an individual on your user page that would no meet the notability guidelines for an article - but if the page is being used as a blog or to host web content, then it may be liable for deletion. In this case, it looks like it is being used to host content about a group and so may violate WP:NOT. In this case you may want to follow the relevant deletion policy. Let me know if you need more help. Cheers TigerShark 18:22, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, whats wrong with my Kigo and Rongo page?
Re: June 2007
[edit]Hello,
I take it you are referring to my addition of a redirect from stercore tauri to bullshit. I was going to add a line about that rather quaint but not uncommon euphemism in the article on bullshit, but I see that it has already been deleted. Anyway, I will try again, and I hope that you and your recent changes-patrol colleagues are less triggerhappy now. --Thorsen 15:03, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Buscema Wolverine image
[edit]Please don't take this one personal, but using interior shots to illustrate an author does not seem to meet the intent of WP:FU. Burzmali 23:17, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- No problem Burzmali and thanks for the fair usage info. If you could be more specific as to how you feel that the fair usage explanation doesn't comply with the Non-Free content guidelines, I'd appreciate it.
--Skyelarke 23:38, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- The non-free use guidelines specify that:
- The use of low-resolution images of a single panel from a comic strip or an interior page of a comic book to illustrate:
- the scene or storyline depicted, or
- the copyrighted character(s) or group(s) depicted on the excerpted panel in question;
- Since the scan of the comic isn't being used to illustrate the Wolverine in any sense, it seems that they wouldn't be in the scope of non-free use. Burzmali 23:49, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply - good points raised - I do have a few counter-points to raise but I was wondering if we could put this on the backburner for a bit - it's because the article is currently locked due to a dispute I'm having with another editor (image use questions among other things - althought the Wolverine image wasn't in dispute) - As the situation is kind of complicated, involving lots of points of detail, it would help if you could hold off from deleting the image for the time being, until the dispute is resolved.

- Well, I can trace 15 of 16 great-great grandparents back to Ireland, and the last one is more of a question mark. I've got a few from every single significant Irish immigration wave to the US, including the Irish Famine, though the largest segment ~25% emigrated in the early twentieth century. My father and grandfather are Johns, but then my family has always had a thing for good ol' Irish names. Burzmali 23:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

AfD for Reenactor Entertainment
[edit]Chill out. I'm not attempting to validate the award claims, which may indeed be dubious. I'm just saying that the company does/did exist, and they did indeed put out a legit product or two. ModelSim
[edit]Modelsim is not notable??? just because you have never heard of it doesn't mean that it doesn't heavily influence your life... if you consider that at least 30% of the electronics in your home have have been made using Modelsim then you might realize that you were wrong to delete this page....Modelsim is made by one the big three EDA companies: Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, and Synopsys. For instance, the PowerPC was designed using Modelsim for example...as were many well known and important IC chips....many Intel chips were designed using Modelsim for example... the list of companies that use this tool is too long to name...how can you say its not notable?
Look here:
[3]
Modelsim is a signoff simulator for many IC manufacturers... that means they won't build the chips of other companies without using modelsim to verify them...
you haven't heard of it... but that doesn't mean that its not important... you are not an IC design engineer... you wouldn't know...
please undelete this page... so that i can continue work on it... you did not give proper notice.... you deleted without a proper vote....

Possible set up for a Wikiproject
[edit]I want your thoughts on this. You up for setting for a project dealing with quality and quality-related issues? Let's see if anyone else is interested. Chris (talk) 15:09, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Is the quality idea part of another project? If so, what? I was not aware that it was under another project. Chris (talk) 20:45, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think it does need to go into the sciences project, but it is an interdisciplinary type project similar to that of the library and information sciences and I think it should be its own separate project as a result cince it covers basic quality such as statistics, auditing, management, and engineering; and applied quality like food, drug, and cosmetic; aerospace, computers, teams, government, and education. Let's start work on better formulaing our ideas and put up a proposal to create this project after the New Year with both it and Christmas close by. Merry Christmas! Ron Paul
[edit]Ron Paul never had anything to do with the editorial group that published the newsletter (or newsletters) that supposedly carried the comments in question, and wasn’t even aware of them. Ron Paul immediately disavowed the newsletter article as soon as it came out. The staffer responsible was immediately fired. “They were never my words, but I had some moral responsibility for them . . . I actually really wanted to try to explain that it doesn’t come from me directly, but the campaign aides said that’s too confusing. ‘It appeared in your letter and your name was on that letter and therefore you have to live with it.’”
In Ron Paul’s article, “Government and Racism”, April 16, 2007 which states the following: “Bigotry at its essence is a sin of the heart, and we can’t change people’s hearts by passing more laws and regulations. In fact it is the federal government more than anything else that divides us along race, class, religion, and gender lines. Government, through taxes, restrictive regulations, corporate subsidies, racial set-asides, and welfare programs, plays far too large a role in determining who succeeds and who fails in our society. This government “benevolence” crowds out genuine goodwill between men by institutionalizing group thinking, thus making each group suspicious that others are receiving more of the government loot. This leads to resentment and hostility between us. The political left argues that stringent federal laws are needed to combat racism, even as they advocate incredibly divisive collectivist policies. Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms or groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called “diversity” actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist. The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence, not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.”
Anybody who claims that Ron Paul made the comments in question is deliberately mis-stating what occurred to make political points. It is a measure of (his opponents) desperation that they are dredging this up again. Anybody who reads all that he has written – and there’s lots of it, could see that right away. Best to you.--Duchamps_comb 00:48, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hello - please be aware that when a citation includes a "ref name" such as this one, it may be an anchor citation meaning that rather than removing the anchor you need to move it to another place in the article that is using it as an anchor. Suggestions for disambiguation
[edit]Greetings. You've previously helped out at Wikipedia:Suggestions for name disambiguation, so I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know we have a brand new batch of 3,835 names to be checked! These include sports figures, federal judges, serial killers, librarians, and other assorted sundry folks. This batch also should be a little easier to update, with corrected templates and a handy search function. Enjoy! – Quadell (talk) 03:36, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Ron Paul and his one withdrawl symptom
[edit]RE: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ron_Paul&diff=286572130&oldid=286568748
Hello,
I was only trying to include all the statistics tracked in the Congressional Record & the Library of Congress. The folks at THOMAS even set this figure as a searchable parameter (note: that I used the parameter search and not a direct link that returns only one hit, in this case one piece of legislation). If that doesn't qualify the figure as relevant to legislative history and context then I don't know what does and what doesn't. Besides, it's not like Dr. Paul was drunk on withdrawing support - he's way better than the average for the time he's been in office in my opinion.
68.237.233.52 (talk) 08:43, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not really contesting the specific information, just the presentation. Saying that he has "only withdrawn" is a qualitative statement which should really be supported by a secondary source. Could you just add the information to the table, adding (1 withdrawn) in the appropriate session? Burzmali (talk) 12:13, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- ohhhhh... was that all??? I didn't even realize what the line projected. Moved into table. 68.237.233.52 (talk) 15:30, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Article in Quality Progress
[edit]FYI, I just wanted to let you know that I have an article coming out in next month's Quality Progress (American Society for Quality (ASQ)'s monthly magazine) in the "Quality in the First Person" section that mentions quality not just being a 9 to 5 job, but a way of life. It also includes Wikipedia and the GA I had to go through with the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec. Chris (talk) 18:55, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Straw Poll
[edit]Hi, you were involved in the discussion at Talk:Ron Paul. A straw poll is currently being conducted to discern concensus.Chhe (talk) 13:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello, Burzmali. I've put forward another proposal in an attempt to resolve the content dispute at Ron Paul. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks! Nick Graves (talk) 16:59, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi Burzmali, I am Trying to add a picture of Fidel Castro jumping off a T-34 Soviet tank during the "Bay of Pigs" Invasion to the article of the aforementioned Tank I is public domain. So my question is how do I do so without breaking the Wikipedia protocol? and about the article on "trompeta china" at the time i did not really fully understand Wikipedia and i got carried away... Although I'm right about the fact that is called Corneta instead of trompeta I should not get pissed off about it and embrace the fact htat there is an article on it... anyway let me know how to do this... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ancizar73 (talk • contribs) 08:01, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Burzmali! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 687 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
