Iron Ring Clock

[edit]

I have deleted File:Iron ring clock small2.jpg and adjusted the article to match. I have reverted Image:Iron ring clock small.jpg to the larger version - Wiki is very clever at automatically scaling images. Did you have the same trouble as I had with the images not seeming to update? The trick I used was: view the image by itself then click refresh. The image is called "... small" - would you be willing to let us have the "... large" version? -- RHaworth 00:54, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the image tips, this is my first editing attempt. I uploaded image:Iron_Ring_Clock.jpg, which is the full sized version of Iron ring clock small.jpg, as requsted. Burtonpe 01:40, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well done. Now please tell us what a Geneva Wheel is. It is nice to find people who take to Wiki naturally and do things like putting copyright tags on images right from the start. Though you could be uploading them to "the Commons" - won't you have to repeat this article in the French Wikipedia? -- RHaworth 04:16, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Changed the wording, Wikipedia calls it a Geneva Drive instead of a Geneva Wheel. Not sure if my french is up to par for rewriting all this stuff! Been a while since I took any french. Burtonpe 13:31, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Canada

[edit]

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 15:21, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Clock Team03.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 17:27, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fhe400.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Iron Ring Clock

[edit]

Your help is needed to find a citation for The clock contains what is believed to be the largest iron ring in the world as in integral part of the mechanism. in the McMaster University article. This is one of the things need to be addressed before the article can be renominated as a good article. Thanks 219.79.199.246 12:04, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picton Castle (ship)

[edit]

Hi, someone just copied & pasted the original website to the article. It happened very early in the article and much newer material was intertwined, ergo the much earlier restore. This was the last section you added. Feel free to add it again to the article. It's especially better for GFDL reasons when you do that, it was your text after all. Garion96 (talk) 18:35, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the night of Friday, December 8, 2006, as the ship was making it's way down the east coast of North America, the ship encountered bad weather; a rogue wave swamped the ship, sweeping one of the sailors overboard. The person swept overboard was later identified as lead seaman Laura Gainey, daughter of Bob Gainey. She was not wearing a life jacket or a survival suit, but due to the warm water temperatures (22•C) she is expected to survive for up to 36 hours. However, this only means survival is likely up to the morning of Sunday, December 10, which is the time of this update. The search is ongoing, involving the Picton Castle, United States Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard aircraft, and merchant vessels. [2] [3] [4]

Fair use rationale for File:Fhe400.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Fhe400.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 01:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Saba 0432868.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Saba 0432868.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Russavia Let's dialogue 16:16, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Climbing Luskville.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! File source problem with File:Iron Ring Clock.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Iron Ring Clock.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
