- Hi -- Replying to the msg on my talk page, I see from the source page that the software is GNU licensed, but it doesn't indicate that the words on that page are so licensed. In any event, if you cut and paste from another page pursuant to a license granted on that page or a related page, the best practice is to leave an explanation on the article's discussion page so it doesn't get picked up as a copyvio. Nobody wants to delete a good article, but it's sometimes hard to tell without a hint. Thanks! -- Butseriouslyfolks 02:43, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- I just took a look at the pdf guide. Like the webpage, the guide indicates that the software is GNU licensed but does not grant a similar license with regard to the guide. To the contrary, the guide has a rather prominent copyright notice. -- Butseriouslyfolks 02:50, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello again. First of all, I didn't delete the article. I am not an admin, so I do not have that ability. Secondly, if you take a look at the deletion log, it says "08:45, 19 February 2007 Mailer diablo (Talk | contribs) deleted "Seminonparametric" (WP:CSD#G11)". G11 is shorthand for blatant advertising. Note that I did not originally tag the page as advertising. I did not even think it was advertising. Finally, we cannnot be too zealous in protecting Wikipedia from copyright violations, in light of what has happened to other internet resources (such as Youtube) recently. -- Butseriouslyfolks 21:27, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
